That article is pure propaganda. The electric grid is falling apart? Please. The power outages were sabotage. Along with the oil tanks which spontaneous exploded for no reason. A few weeks after Israeli special forces landed in Brazil. Coincidence?

And that's conspiracy theory.

Any trade Venezuela does benefits Maduro and his cronies, and no one else.

Wait a minute...are you actually defending him? You think he should stay in power?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

That's not true at all. Venezuela needs to sell oil to make money to import refined petroleum products & other foreign goods. They're highly dependent on trade.

Speak the truth. It's a ruthless economic power play by the 800lb gorilla of the Caribbean, Us. It's good old fashioned Neocon Imperialism. If you think a lot of Venezuelans don't see it that way you're out of your mind.

Chavez and Maduro after him destroyed he country by destroying the industry that is the lifeblood. Nationalizing it followed by lack of investment and maintence to support social programs led to steady decline of output.

The US needs to stay out of it but we aren’t the cause of this, this is a bed entirely of Venezuala's making. Revolution has to happen, that is the only outcome. Not just trading for a different ruler but keeping the same broken system, a true revolution that wipes clean the government and starts anew.

So, lots of blood, right? That's one way to burn it down, for sure.

Jhhnn I undid your post to see what you’d had to say. Yes it probably will involve blood, extrodinairly naive to pretend there’s a way without. The US should not be involved, but yeah toppling the government who doesn’t want to fall will be messy. There is blood spilt everyday with the status quo though, the government is killing its people every single day through its failed policies and incompetence and corruption. It’s up to the Venezualan people now.

Yeh, but the Trump admin is still trying to make them an offer they can't refuse. Oust Maduro & we'll take our boot off of your neck.

I live in a country next to Venezuela. I can see it when driving to work. Many refugees are here. All I can say is that most of the 'experts' here are totally clueless as what is really happening, but keep watching your MSM and living in your dream world. It's the majority of the population resisting, not just the Government and the military. Hard to accept I know, but the only way Venezuela gets Guaido is through a direct foreign military intervention, or more accurately, invasion.

Any of you ever hiked through a real tropical rain forest?

Any have an idea of a real guerilla war in hard terrain? No flat deserts here.

How many deaths, on ALL sides, will be worth it?

After the fucking the US government did in Iraq just for oil and reelection bump.. I'd say 1/2 a million dead, maybe 5 million displaced in other countries.

I would not put it past Trump.

I don't get what your overall message is here? Bow down to Maduro and his repressive regime? Bow down to his fake election?

"The majority of the population resisting" is pretty bland statement.

What if the Venezuelan people don't want to return to the way it used to be?

What does the Venezuelan people want?
If the west eases influence I can guarantee that someone else will fill the void. Then what?
To answer the question to what the Venezuelan people want I think you have to strip the Venezuelan part.
What do people want? What do people in general want?

Live in peace?
Food on the table?
Freedom from oppression?
Luxury goods?

Most probable path to those items?
Mafia State?
Democracy?
Something else?

I think the idea of leaving Venezuela(and others) free of western influence - to make up their own minds - is romantic at best.

We have an excellent recipe for peace already. Unions and military alliances. Keep expanding on those till we eclipse the planet. IMO it has to be done or get eclipsed by something else.

A start.

Then we have, who exactly are we talking about? Venezuela had a poor OPPRESSED non-white large majority. You only get to see & hear the richer ones who fled to the US. THEY have it worse with the present government, but what about the majority.

I so often see hate for Trump and his cronies, but for some mysterious reason these same people are the good guys in Venezuela. I, racially, look like a Guaido supporter and you folks here don't have a clue to present racism. Doors open for me based on my lighter skin color.

The blacker previously oppressed Venezuelans are NEVER going back.

The fact is, the US is supporting the overthrow of Maduro. Which NEEDS to happen to restore Venezuela to the country it used to be.
Read up a bit on how it used to really be. Why did Chavez win his 1st election as an independent candidate with a large majority? Answer that question and you will see how nice it was before.

I'm NOT saying that things are nice now, but it was terrible for the majority before Chavez.

By the way, I firmly believe in capitalism, but that is not what we have in the West. The rich rule and are squeezing the rest more & more, while being subsidized. Wall street bailout anyone, health anyone, environment anyone.

Look for news beyond your normal channels. It's out there, you just have to do a little extra, if you really want to know.

The Greyzone youtube channel for real interviews, not the lies from reporters who never put a foot in the country.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEXR8pRTkE2vFeJePNe9UcQ/videos

This video at the time 35:00 has an impassioned tale from a UN rep. He is pissed. Brave enough to see?
Time 28:00 for real Venezuelans on BOTH sides speaking. See ANY starving people? See how clean the cars look. Utter poverty?

Greg Palast website:

VITAL video:

FREE oil for poor Americans. Did you know this?

Anyone who look at these and don't at least begin to question are tools of the elite.

I SUGGEST ALL HERE READ & SEE.

You guys really have drank the koolaid.

There is honestly zero hope left for you. I honestly just hope your lack of brain cells isn't passed on.

It's funny because this is basically at the same level as flat earthers and anti-vaxxers.

For the sane lefties here: Some of your crazies escaped their encampment again.

The thing is, I meet the real Venezuelans, unlike you. I don't drink the koolaid, as I live next to where it's really happening. Why drink koolaid when you have the real stuff?

As I tell my friends who are angry at the lies, it really doesn't matter what the fools who blindly follow the MSM think. They and you have no power, only hot air, as in the empty vessels make the most noise.

Venezuela will be determined by those with the true influence and power to make change, whatever way it turns out. People like you can continue to spout nonsense, but enjoy your fantasies, they probably make you feel very important and an expert.

edit:
I see you appealing to the 'sane lefties here' to ignore, not me, but the journalists with another narrative. If you're so sure of your 'truth', then why not be comfortable with them seeing another opinion or view? Why are you so scared? If it's bullshit being promoted by my posts, then they'll have a good laugh at my stupidity, or do you insult them by thinking they can't recognize that something doesn't smell right? They must be shepherded along.
