BTW, LOL @ OP using NAV.

Sigh, some of you are thick skulled. Again, I couldn't care less what you like to read or believe. That isn't why the cops were called.

I get NAV for free, why not use it?

NAV doesn't do nearly as good of a job as other programs. Invest the 40 bucks into Kaspersky.

wow how was that computer even functioning with that many viruses/trojans

It wasn't really. That scan was done on another machine with an ext. drive enclosure.

Didn't think to use safe mode??

You obviously haven't done this type of repair before.

Running scans on a different system with an enclosure is about the quickest possible way to clear up most of the problems. Then if necessary manual cleanup after that.

It's not a test to see if you are ubergeek and can fix everything from a DOS prompt, but it's about getting things done in the most efficient manner possible.

I would if it was my company. I use what is provided or that I can obtain with no cost to me.

Also - as soon as the childporn was found, the employee AND the business is BOUND BY LAW to report it.

It's just like the one time where I got a computer in to fix and I had to call Gateway to get a part and the serial number turned up as being owned by a school district. It was an integrated LCD system with a P4 so it wasn't like it was something old the district would have given away. Red flag goes up: STOLEN PROPERTY. I called the school district and sure enough they had a batch of them stolen - reported it to the cops and there you go. If I didn't report it and they later found out that it went through there the business could have been held liable.

I always use AVG and Ad-Aware. Gets rid of 99.9% of stuff I have come across.

Just cause the guy had mein kampf doesn't make him a nazi.

or did they outlaw books in the US now too?

Who called him a nazi?

That was just my assumption when you said offbeat.
I despise fascism, but I don't see a problem with books. I'm kinda curious about the book, perhaps I'll read it someday.

Not at all, off beat could even be a good thing. Obviously in this case, it isn't.

read the book. its interesting to see what hitler had in mind early on. the guy was nuts, but now we have no excuse of ignorance
