I seem to have an ad blockage. Hmmmm.
It's kind of a joke but 's CAN be used to indicate possession with a word like "do" that is not normally a noun. Like most things in the English language, the rule has exceptions. Thus the question "what exactly are the do's and don'ts of apostrophes".
I had a feeling. Well I Bing-ed it just now, and found this to be a source of conflict.
AFAIC, fake contraction (do's) is fake, and is not exceptional ... whether it aids comprehension or no.
If I have serious concerns about confusion, I'd just capitalize -- DOs & DON'Ts. Of course capitalizing could indicate an acronym like PCs or CDs, but acronyms don't have apostrophes, so should be safe.
