I got covid in early January. I have had all my vaccines but still got it. Fortunately it was relatively mild. Had two days of fever and extreme fatigue. 10 days after symptoms began I tested negative. Still have a bad cough but two negative tests in a row.

What was your experience like?

My experience was very similar to yours. I've been vaccinated since the beginning and have had a couple of boosters. I've had Covid three times now and each time it was fairly mild but a little different.

I only had the first two Moderna vaccines. Got Covid this past June. Started with a sore throat, developed into a bit of a chest cold. Was sick for about a week.

Started it off with a bad sore throat for me, tested negative at first. It started to turn into lots of dry coughing and the sore throat was starting to get better but for a short period it was both at same time which was quite brutal. But the sore throat got better and it was just the caughing. That actually lingered on for a few weeks. I tested positive as I was starting to feel better only. I'd say the worse of it was about 2 days of sore throat which was quite annoying.

Oddly enough never really got stuffy nose or loss of taste like is typical of covid.

As a side note they are dropping the tests since they're not all that accurate I guess:

Got the first two Moderna, then Pfizer booster in April 2022. Finally got Covid a month ago for the first time. It just seemed like a strong cold...mild fever, stuffy, sore. Lasted about three days before I was feeling nearly normal. I then got a nuts sinus infection two weeks later that still won't go away.

My throat felt like I was gargling razor blades for 4-5 days and coughed up a bunch of mucus. Originally thought it was a reaction to our horrible winter cedar pollen since I got it in January 2022 when our cedar pollen levels are through the roof and since in December I had the exact same symptoms from the pollen and tested negative twice using PCR. Pretty mild reaction for me, though I had already had the two shot course of Pfizer/BioNTech by the time I got it. Well mild by COVID standards, considering it killed my closest childhood friend in April 2021 after he got infected in March 2021 when vaccinations were really tough to secure.

I got it either sometime middle December, i had had the flu about 1 week before, and aside from the very first day of being ill, where i nearly fainted, i was pretty much ok for the whole 5 days it took me to get rid of it. Had a bit of "brain fog" for another week.
I did manage it by drinking criminally-large amounts of spirits, though, so i basically slept through it.
3 vaccinations (vaccined *do not* prevent you from catching the virus, but a fully vaccinized immune system could potentially fight off the disease before you notice you have it, i.e. feels like "immunity"), and never had it before.

My three experiences with COVID, all post-vaccinations -

Jan '22 - like a very mild cold; mild cough for a week or two, nothing crazy. Didn't even test positive, but I figured that's what I had since my wife tested positive and had similar symptoms (though, hers were more like my second experience with COVID)
May '22 - Started with the scratchy throat and moved into symptoms more typical of an upper respiratory infection (cough, congestion...); had a fever for 2-3 days; more overall fatigue
March '23 - Again, started with the scratchy throat, and quickly moved into cough/congestion. I don't think I had a fever this time, or maybe only low-grade for a day

Got Covid last winter and it was slight fever but a really bad sore throat. Lasted about 7 days before I tested negative again. Had all my vaccines and boosters and I'm current this year. Was sick for a whole week before xmas, still have a lingering cough, but I think it's RSV and not covid this time. Tested negative twice.

Been vaccinated and boostered since mid 2021.

First positive was summer in 2022. Barely any symptoms; I only tested myself before heading to a family thing or I wouldn't have even known. Suffice to say, I stayed home.

However...

Second positive was Feb. of 2023, and I thought I was dying (not literally, but wanted to be put out of my misery for a few days there). I'm pretty sure I simultaneously had the Norovirus that was going around at the time. I spent two days on the toilet with a wastebasket in front of me (in the bathroom every 30 minutes).
The first night of the badness, I called 9-1-1 as my throat/lungs started tightening up and made it hard to breathe. Didn't go in with the EMTs as they tested my blood o2 and said it was normal (calling into question whether my insurance would pay for it). After getting over the really bad few days, any other symptoms were barely noticeable and gone within the week.

Unfortunately, I feel like the long covid got me (unusual fatigue, and at times bad brain-fog).

Fun times.

I caught the damn thing last March (was fully vaxxed at the time including the first bivalent dose). I ended up on paxlovid & a steroid. I didn’t enjoy it but I also didn’t end up in the hospital.

It did stop most of my symptoms, nasty sinus congestion and the beginnings of a bad cough with significant chest congestion. I still felt completely wiped out and it took a week before my sense of smell started coming back. It was about 95% back 2 months later.

After coming off the paxlovid I spent the next 3-4 days with horrible acid indigestion and gastrointestinal issues. Whether that was a reaction to the Paxlovid, rebound COVID gut issues, or I ate something spoiled because I couldn’t taste anything and had food poising I don’t know. After 9-10 days from first symptoms and 4 days after the last of the paxlovid I finally started to feel better.

While on the paxlovid I also had a nasty musty smell in my nose and weird mouth feel which is a known side effect.

Finally the last weird thing was after I started feeling better I broke out with acne like I was 17 again. Took a couple of months to subside.

Started feeling shitty on New Year's Day, I was really sick the next day, pretty sick the day after, and then mildly shitty for a few days after. I tested negative the first Sunday in '24.

I did errands while wearing a mask over the weekend, but had to cancel social outings. So delayed getting laid with this date by a week, otherwise just got a little stir crazy and a slow start to work for the year. Made going back to the office last week very appreciated.

Overall compared to the time catching Covid in Crete in '22, this was a much better experience.

12/2022. Not vaxxed. Runny nose and sporadic dry cough. I gave it no thought until my then recent visitor said they tested positive. So I tested. Positive. Dosed up with Ivermectin. 5 days and I tested negative. It was almost nothing even with my comorbidities. Which is why I take my vitals 2x a day. Never saw a change in them during the whole event.

My positive experience is I don't think I've gotten it. I had a really bad cough in 2022 I think. It seemed to last forever. A friend of mine said he didn't think it was covid. Said his wife had the same thing. A home test was negative, but I only took one test. At that point, it's just trivia. Covid or not, I'll do what I usually do, and try to avoid humans as much as possible.

I'm trying to figure out if this was your experience testing positive for Covid or what you consider to be a "positive" experience with Covid... because honestly it kinda sounds like a "positive" experience compared to death but not all that fun.

I think I got Covid for the first time in Alaska in June 2023. Day before getting on the cruise after we did 10 days on the ground. I never get sick but I was knocked out for a few days, shivering, with a fever. Could certainly be worse, but not what I consider "positive."

my COVID experience was not positive

ok actually it wasn't too bad, it felt like the flu for about 4-5 days and then i just had to not go anywhere for about a week after that

i think i'd had 2 or 3 shots by the time i got COVID, but hadn't gotten the most recent one yet

i fared a lot better than an old friend of mine who was also in his 30s and almost died from the delta variant

1st time, unconfirmed. End of Nov 2019. Unusual but ignored fatigue made it hard to climb stairs and I essentially laid down in bed for two weeks. I could get up, but I really didn't want to. I had no "symptoms". Felt off for months afterwards. Everything was off and tiring.

2nd time. Feb 2021. Again, started off with no noticeable symptoms. Felt just off but not that bad. Eventually contacted telehealth Kaiser doc, tested positive. Felt a little heavy in the chest.
No vax because no supplies for my age demographic.

Ironically, the virus can have an anesthetic effect on the body. I think the day the infection cleared, I actually felt light, energetic. The day after...that's when the painkiller wore off and coughing began, along with the brain fog, sensitivity to heat, etc.

I don't think I have had it or any respiratory illness since. Eating a more nutritionally complete diet, less sugar/starches, supplementation of vitamin D probably helped in that regard.

I've yet to test positive .... never had an antibody test though so I may have had a symptom-free case.

Had all vaccines available for immune-compromised folks including most recent booster.

Symptoms came on yesterday. Weakness, achiness, subtle scratchy throat were the initial symptoms. Maybe I got it from Planet Fitness, even though it was pretty empty there. COVID is a tough, tough virus and the studies don't really convey its toughness.

Somewhat different than before. I don't think I've ever had strep, but roof of mouth aching and "aching ear internals" when swallowing/yawning, scratchy throat were the overt symptoms. The left side of my mouth got the soreness first, then it spread for both sides around 3-4 am this morning. I go to sleep, wake up at about 7am. My left half of my mouth is no longer in pain but the tenderness was in my right mouth.

Many crashes today where I actually feel fine mentally but I just dozed off. Those rests did gradually improve the right side of my mouth. But I got impatient and decided to throw poop at the wall. Ate a bunch of foods with citrulline this evening, along with a couple burger patties from McDonalds. .

Consistent with my prior infections, absolutely NO NASAL DISCHARGE, sneezing, etc. I was able to truck through yesterday through an exam in a fasted state even though I knew someone was off due to the weakness in standing.

Took a test COVID this morning because my body was recovering much faster than the prior cases and I was afraid I'd be negative by tomorrow. Self-swab and I gave it to the lab tech, came back positive this evening.

My condition is consistently improving, as the weakness is fading away and the ear pain from yawning is gone, suggesting that my immune system rapidly attacking the virus.

Unlike back then in 2021, I did take vitamin D+K2 supplements few days prior. 2-3 times of 25000 IUs. And I took another 25000 IU today. I was also loaded with vitamin C from eating fruits, omega-3s from sardines.

While the virus may have gotten "weaker", I've never had a respiratory infection improve in just 24 hours.

Unvaxxed, btw.

Also, I think I'm tasting more bitter when I drink spring water or eating almond butter.

Why does this not surprise me one bit?
My timetable of recovery is still faster than some of the vaxxed posters in this thread. The scratchy throat is reduced and the ache in the mouth can be felt in full.

I know COVID is dead when the aches are fully felt becaude whike active, the virus has a partial painkiller effect.
