Here is one :

Look at this FINE social distancing going on here. They are making sure to stay at least 6 inches away from eachother. Thats the amount right?

They also are making sure to wear their mask - AND making sure to wear it inbetween bites (not just before/after).

What fucking morons that can't even practice what they preach. Probably because they know these rules are moronic. These are the same morons that have said everyone needs to stay at home for Thanksgiving and do any family gathering virtually.

The short answer is that relatively smart people who chose to believe in their delusions have deep levels of cognitive dissonance operating to protect their egos from reality.
That, and you don't necessarily have to be all that brilliant to be a doctor. You've gotta be good at memorizing and regurgitating facts, sure, but not necessarily what we envision when someone colloquially says "this isn't brain surgery." I know plenty of board certified physicians, generalists, specialists, surgeons and the like who are idiots. Shrug.

I've only ever worked with Emergency Medicine doctors, and I've never come across one that I'd consider anything other than very intelligent and quick on their feet. Of course, it might be because Emergency Medicine is kind of a jack of all trades specialty always coming across unknown/random problems.

But yes, high intelligence doesn't necessarily mean there's a lot of critical thinking going on in the background.

Absolutely not. I listened to insiders in China.

Trump is an imbecile, but China lied.

I voted against Trump, but China lied.

China lied.

I've been saying it since Trump and the WHO were still praising China. It's all recorded here in this forum.
Wait, you mean we shouldn't trust the Chinese government?

Shocking pronouncement.

Totally explains Modern US Conservative logic to do the exact opposite of China, by not wearing masks, not locking down, etc.

China lied! Oooohh. Can't blame Trump, he did everything the exact opposite!

Parked and was waiting to cross traffic to walk into the store. Cars stopped from both directions to let us cross. We acknowledged with a wave and crossed. Both vehicles started moving but the one from our left rolled down the window and yelled "COVID'S A LIE!"

Obviously, he was making an inference about us from our masks, since there was nothing else about us that implies we were duped by COVID lies or anything. Wish I could tell him that I've had my masks since January based on what I knew about what was happening in China while China was still lying about it, so it has nothing to do with what the government says/does. Heck, they literally told us to stop buying masks and not to wear them and that they were ineffective. As my record in the OT Coronavirus thread shows, I saw through that noise and applied critical thinking/healthy skepticism.

Obviously, I don't need him to tell me about governments lying to us about COVID-19. Love how conspiracy nuts think they are the real skeptics.

Heh, you should have run up to the open car window, ripped off your mask, coughed and spit then yelled I have COVID you idiot. Then run like Hell.

So what? Your assertion that China lied remains unsupported. Show us, in the timeline I offered, at exactly what point China lied & provide links to back it up.

I always remember this from an AD&D manual in the 80's (I'm paraphrasing):
"Intelligence is understanding the particulars of how and why smoking is dangerous for you while Wisdom is knowing smoking is dangerous and therefor not doing it"

Hahahaha, is Quibbles still trying to convince others he was right when he accidentally fell right on Turmp's dick? What a sad pathetic stupid bitch he is. I'd almost admire his spirit if it wasn't for the fact that he knows he's wrong but somehow cannot admit it because in his eyes it'd ruin his rep around here, yet he's accomplishing exactly what he's trying to prevent by going out of his way to be like Turmp.

I'm not aware of any specific lies about COVID from the CCP - but I don't regard them as particularly trustworthy, so it wouldn't surprise me if I missed some.

What did annoy me was the WHO opposing restrictions on travel to-and-from China, while at the same time applauding China's internal travel restrictions. For a while there Beijing was better shielded from the infection than were cities outside China. In general both the WHO and most governments seemed to regard international travel as weirdly sacrosanct, while being much happier with internal travel restrictions.

Trump's travel restrictions seemed like a case of stopped-clock syndrome. Badly executed but maybe doing the right thing for probably the wrong reasons.

Shithead loud mouths like that, I usually point at them and laugh a very loud and sincere laugh while looking them straight in the face. Usually shuts them up, or on occasion when they don't, I laugh even louder as I'm walking/driving away from them.

Yea, a regime like CPC has the ability to choke out information on the ground and they will do so if they perceive it to be in their interest ... on the other hand they may perceive it to in their interest to be as forthcoming as possible... point being we cant know.
On the other side, in a democracy with a free press, pandora is out of the box from day 1.

China lying - I certainly remember China's early cover-up back in December, and it wouldn't surprise me if they've fudged their stats, but I don't know anything specific beyond their attack on the doctor who tried to spread awareness then:

article said:
30 December - The health commission in Wuhan notifies local hospitals of a "pneumonia of unclear cause", and asks them to report any related information of suspicious cases in the past week.
Ai Fen, a leading doctor at Wuhan Central hospital, receives medical results from a patient with a suspected coronavirus.
Dr Ai takes a photo of the results and sends it to another doctor in the area. It circulates among the medical community in Wuhan.
Another doctor at Wuhan Central hospital, Dr Li Wenliang, sends a message to fellow doctors in a chat group warning them about the outbreak and advising they wear protective clothing to avoid infection. Dr Li is later summoned to the Public Security Bureau and accused of "making false comments" that had "severely disturbed the social order".

I think the question was if local officials directed keeping it quiet in December or was it a national policy from the central government. The local officials certainly took the blame for it.

The problem Trump runs into is by his own admission we knew details that he declined to make public at the time in the early phases and he has continued to argue against even now.

Also his “total travel ban” from China was worthless because we didn’t isolate people as they flooded back to the US nor did we do anything about travel from other regions until it was too late. The New York outbreak has been linked to travelers returning from Europe.

Let remember that Trump and many of his syncopate supporters have also attacked people that dare speak the truth about the spread of the virus, including suppressing actual data. When throwing rocks at China, be careful you don't break your own windows.

Covidiots - anyone getting Covid tests so they can travel for Thanksgiving when Dr. Fauci has explicitly recommended that people not travel for the holidays.

If all the participants could be trusted to quarantine for two weeks beforehand, I don't see why not. As an additional precaution, get a covid test at the end of the two weeks?

It's a big 'if' though, I'd have to trust the other people a lot more than I'd trust at least one of my siblings (having said that, considering they all have kids... probably not then!).

One thing this situation has taught me is the classic line from George Carlin about low average IQ then remember that means ~50% of people are more stupid than that. I visited a customer I knew soon after the first UK lockdown with the usual precautions I take (mask, sanitise my hands on the way in and out), and he asked me if I'd like him to wear a mask. I thought, "well, if he's been quarantining all this time and he was reasonable enough to ask, my precautions are probably enough" (and this being a whole new situation for me to be in with customers, I wasn't sure how much and how exactly to put my foot down), so I said that he didn't need to. At the end of the appointment he revealed that his daughter just came to visit.

<facepalm>
