Did you guys see the Alito speech to Federalist Society? It was half hour of butthurt about gay marriage and how it should be banned because opposing it makes Catholics look like bigots, COVID restrictions on Church, etc. Basically the usual Conservative victimhood drivel, but all about the Catholics.

Edit I read your quote wrong. Representing the same point

But churches have shown higher infection rates than restaurants. And people at churches and bars have been more flagrent in their ignoring capacity restrictions.

These lawsuits against the restrictions, they need to become anonymous. Well in the sense that you need to remove that they are representing a church. Because if only looked at the basic numbers, places are being held to the same requirements. But once it's known it's a church, everyone starts claims constitution rights. Not like these same people will defend strip clubs for the same requirements.

Cuomo should never had a seperate House of Worship section of his chart. They’re all mass gatherings. No different than a lecture or concert.

My very, very Catholic mother (former nun) who attends weekly mass come hell or high water said, "oh, hell no" to attending mass during the pandemic. Her parish has the church sectioned off so that there is at least fifteen feet between parties but she is still in the "nope" camp.

SCOTUS nutjobs know better, they are working remotely indefinitely themselves. They just don't care.

We are all adults. If you're an adult who decieds to attend mass and get sick from COVID19 you should expect ZERO sympathy.

Maybe they should go thank Amy Barrett. I'm sure that she cares.

No, that’s not what is being said here. Gorsuch says you have the right to yell “fire” in a crowded church, not in a crowded theater.
If you sincerely hold religious belief that there is a fire, you can yell it anywhere.

This is Trump's Supreme Revenge Court we're going to have to live with unless a Miraculous Expansion occurs. Big Business Swindlers and Religion Hucksters rejoice! The Papals in Rome now have control of a nice chunk of the Last Stop Soothsayers of Our Nation.

At this point the only reason I care about these idiots getting covid-19 is only because the can spread it to someone else or affect a healthcare worker or someone else seeking medical care. I am out of shits to give about what happens to them anymore.

You guys are totally taking this the wrong way.

Look at who's she's killing. I have reached the point, where I realize it's a waste of time to talk suicides off the roofs of buildings. Now I say jump, and enjoy the ride down.

I fully support Republican's right to die. In fact, if there's anything I can do to help them in their endeavors, they should feel free to contact me.

The sooner we can get them all to Mission Accomplished, the better.

I will continue to wear my mask, and avoid the idiots.

You know the Drake Equation? That estimates how many advanced civilisations there are in the universe? One term in there that is very uncertain is longevity - how long sentient species survive. Maybe we are finding what the value of that term is? Maybe we are hitting some sort of 'hard limit', a point at which society reaches a stage of technological and sociological development where people, as a collective lose the capacity to cope with threats?
That the reaction to COVID is so irrational does not bode at all well for the hope of addressing climate-change.

Dude, I think you've nailed it.

So wrong... yet so right!
As long as they are culling their own willing base, get out of the way and let them proceed.

At this point, most reasonable people understand that you can't trust your fellow Americans to not be superspreaders. Typhoid Mary wouldn't not be a moral outlier today.

TNO stands for "trust no one", usually associated with anything financial, business, or computer security. Always have your firewall up. The pandemic has emphasized that to include virtually everyone.

Think how fucking different it would be if not for the motherfucking bastard Trump and his hoax bullshit. Sure the fundy religions and end of world nutjobs would still be deniers, but with 80% instead of 50% taking it seriously things wouldn't be this bad.

Trump led his minions to their own demise, they're pissed at everyone but themselves because they just can't think things through enough to realize that they are their own worst enemy, that everyone else besides them are merely standing back and telling these Trumpers to stop punching themselves in their faces while blaming everyone else for their pain.

But no, they'd rather listen to Trump lie straight to their faces because he tells them things they were previously told to believe only in a much more gut wrenching kind of way, never mind how blatantly false these things are because the truth is hurtful, it's painful and it's contrary to what they'd been told to believe. Better to side with the lies than to accept the damaging facts of the matter even if they know those facts are what they are.

To them it's come to the point where the truth and facts don't matter any more than Trump's lies do. Besides, Trump's blatant lies were never ever an issue with them anyway. What really matters is the survival of the collective where change is bad, regression is good, inclusiveness is to poison the purity of the tribe, exclusiveness is a means of survival.

Religion causes people to do stupid things, because it is based on the stunning ignorance of men that didn't even know where the sun went at night.

They’ve spent the last five years twisting themselves into pretzels trying to explain how a man who personally embodies all of the seven deadly sins is God’s chosen president. Why stop now?
