We had a gubernatorial candidate who ran on pretty much that. Didn't work out for him either.

Antivaxers have long fantasized about tribunals where health care personnel and their other "enemies" will be put on trial and punished/executed. The Nuremberg Code delusion has gotten a big boost during Covid-19.

Such toxic dangerous nuttiness is not confined to the U.S.:

I find it quite alarming that that person was ever a nurse. Imagine having someone like that 'caring' for you when you are seriously ill and at your most vulnerable?

Honestly I don't understand politics any more. It's like there's a whole new form of crazy/evil that the pandemic has revealed (or created?) that doesn't fit into left/right categories. Quite a few of these nutters seem to overlap with the traditional neo-Nazi far right, but by no means all of them. I guess David Icke was kind of the prototype for them.

The anti-science crowd has found its next hydroxy chloroquine - ivermectin, an anti-parasitic for livestock.

Such a shame that the vaccine costs an arm and .....oh wait, it's free.

Some people are suspicious of the vaccine because it is free. Insane but true.

Vaccine doesn't even cost that much for the Gov. Moderna was billed at $14 and some change to my insurance from the State. That is very affordable imo.

Ah yes, the good ole "Common Sense"
It's right up there with "Street Smarts"

"I'm just doing what everyone should do"

No Phil, that stupidity has killed lots of people, including you.

Smart choice choosing to trust animal deworming medication and vitamins rather than a highly proven vaccine designed for people.

Here’s some new crazy. If you read the whole thing. It is just jam-packed with it.

He might as well be citing the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition or Asimov’s Laws of Robotics. It’s Sovereign Citizen level nuttiness mixed with anti-vax hysteria and terrorism

Covidiots are violating Asimov's Zeroth Law.

Some people are suspicious of the vaccine because it is free. Insane but true.

Technically it's not free. The US government is paying for it. Which means we are all paying for it with our tax dollars. But good luck telling that to these chuckle-heads.

I'm through giving any sympathy to adults who decide not to get vaccinated. My heart still bleeds for those affected because they cannot get the vaccine, for medical reasons, or children who are brainwashed and left hanging by these covidiots.

I recommend that our scientists develop an aerosol version of the covid vaccine that can be disbursed like tear gas and whenever a mob of anti-vaccers gather to protest being mandated vaccine shots, cannisters of covid vaccine gas be lobbed into their midst.

Crop duster versions anyone? I mean hey, if those self-righteous idiots insist on being walking talking vectors of the deadly virus, what's a guy to do to help the nation heal itself?

First you misspelled republican, it is not spelled anti-science.

And every time a republican pontificates about a new miraculous cure or remedy, the poison control call centers know they need to bring in more staff.

Hey, well at least he tried. Guess it's dawned on him that it's not good for him if his supporters all die off.

(Seems pretty standard that the cult leader ends up a prisoner of his own followers. If it follows The Golden Bough template, the next step is they'll kill and eat him, in order to pass his sacred essence on to his successor)

At his rally in Alabama on Saturday night, Donald Trump heard the unusual sound of booing and jeering aimed his way, after he told supporters: “I recommend taking the vaccines.”

The former president was speaking in Cullman, Alabama, a city struggling to cope with Covid-19 cases and hospitalisations.

Like other states home to resistance to vaccinations and other public health measures often stoked by Republican leaders, Alabama is currently at the mercy of the Delta variant of the coronavirus.

“I believe totally in your freedoms,” Trump said. “I do, you’re free, you got to do what you have to do.

“But I recommend taking the vaccines. I did it, it’s good, take the vaccines.”

Trump was vaccinated while in office, having been hospitalised with Covid-19 last October. He has told supporters they should follow suit.

In Alabama, responding to boos and jeers, he said: “That’s OK. That’s all right. That’s good, you got your freedoms.

And he will never mention it again.

Seems like the most half assed attempt ever.

The fact that he got booed means he'll never do it again. Deeply insecure toad needs the validation.

He was just feeling out the audience, not making a pro-vax pitch.

I think he was, tentatively and weakly, but sincerely, being pro-vaccine. I think the thought probably did dimly creep into his consciousnesses that his own supporters are the most at risk (given geography and age profile). But certainly he is never going to risk losing that narcissistic supply, so the reaction probably does mean he'll never risk trying it again.

that boo sent him crying into his concrete pillow that night. I'm sure when pressed, now, he'll deny he ever said that or more likely that he was obviously joking. He'll now either turn on his people or just go on pretending he never said it, and they'll never remember.

Saying it was half assed is generous.

At the point he should have held up his hands and said "wait a minute, I alone created this wondrous and life-saving vaccine for you, and the democrats stole it. Go steal it back by getting your shot."
