Thing with the vaccines is they drop efficiency off a cliff after ~3 months .. in related news we've heard that they're already working on omicron specific versions and they're gonna need 3 months to make em.
So get the booster now and in 3 months get the omicron edition -> home free.
Just in time for the Sigma Variant.
For crying out loud, we have enough problems that it would help if the other half tried to contribute every once in awhile with a novel idea or two.
They don't even have to contribute any ideas. They are clearly incapable of that. All they really need to do is get the fuck out of the way while the rest of us go about fixing the shit they broke. Instead they want to throw tantrums and break more shit.
Here is my worry. We are quickly approaching a breaking point. This virus is going to keep mutating, and eventually one of those mutations will hit that perfect combination of long incubation period, high transmissibility, and high fatality and we will not be ready for that.
Our healthcare system is already hovering at the breaking point, and what sudden surges haven't done so far attrition will eventually accomplish.
Because the healthcare system is so overloaded they are not training new nurses or doctors. Neither of the training hospitals in Dallas is willing to take on students, so they are unable to complete their training and get licensed. We are not getting new healthcare workers.
Because the healthcare system is so overloaded we are losing experiences nurses and doctors to burnout and fatigue. I have 4 nurses and 1 doctor in my close family. All of them are working 60-70 hours weeks, nonstop, with a few 80-90 hour weeks when things get really bad. None of them are able to take vacations or time off. They are all on call 24/7 because even a single nurse calling in sick on a floor is a minor disaster, people literally die due to it. All of them have been bedside care for 15+ years, and all of them are now looking to get out of patient care. One of them already has.
I don't think people really understand how bad things are. How close we are to the healthcare system collapsing.
