CPU fan making noise

Usually my stock amd hsf doesn't make any noise, but lately, it makes a slight buzzing sound when it first turns on (few seconds) and as it's turning off and slowing down. When it hits full RPM, it's silent. There are no cords blocking it or anything... should I worry about it?

Take the fan out and add a few drops of oil in there.

Can I take out the fan without removing the heatsink? is oil safe?

On most heatsinks u can remove the fan from the heatsink. Use thin oil, like the one used in sewing machines. WD-40 will do fine also.

The fan should come off by unscrewing the screws that hold it to the heatsink. WD40 would work. 3 in 1 oil will work as well, but use it sparingly.

If not the bearing is going bad, could last a while could lock up in the next few minutes, oil will help, but its just temorary, you need to order a replacement fan tryCoolerguys they should have what you need.

I know exactly what you're talking about and this is my advice: if you plan on keeping this setup / system for a long while, buy a replacement fan soon. The "buzzing" sound only lasts for a few seconds now but after a little more time, it takes longer before it settles down. One of my family's fans now takes a minute and a half (I've timed it) to settle whereas a year ago, it was a two second annoyance.

(In my case, it's a PSU fan and probably won't be keeping the PSU for much longer anyway).

Just unscrew the fan and put a new one in.
