CPU HEAT QUESTION

I am currently running a 1.4gig tbird being cooled by a global win FOP-38. It runs under load at about 60C. Can anyone here tell me is this temp too hot and maybe what your cpu temp runs at under full load, also please include what kind of cooling you employ.

I believe that 60 is real close or at the limit for a t-bird. You may want to look at improving the air flow in your case? Do you have an idea of the case temp? I run in the low 40's (42-43) under full load with a 1.35gig Tbird using an Alpha 8045. I also have 2x120mm case fans so the case temp stays within +/- 5 of ambient.

That's a bit high for the cpu, but not outside of the highest temperature for the Tbird. They do run much hotter than the AMD XP's.

I would make sure that your case is properly ventilated with at least one 80mm fan in and one 80mm fan exhaust. You might want to try putting some arctic silver heat paste on the cpu and reset your hsf or better yet get a better hsf with more cfm blowing down on the sink.
