CPU+Mobo = Will it work!?

I just bought the follwing two items on ebay:

Intel D815EEA Motherboard:

Intel Celeron 1Ghz CPU:

The problem is that the Intel website only lists Celerons up to 800Mhz as comatible with this motherboard....the ones that had the 66Mhz FSB.

My qestion is, since this motherboard supports 100Mhz FSB, and the CPU is FCPGA 370, just like the mobo needs it, will it work? And is it possible for me to mess the CPU and/or motherboard if i try it?

It might work. Since you have already bought the 2 items, you may as well wait to receive them and try them out.

Hi

Yes it will work. Have the same board as you do and currently running a P3 1Ghz in it. Just need to flash the BIOS to make it recongnise the faster chips.

well the Intel website explicitly says that the motherboard can run a 1Ghz PIII, but the Celerons only go up to 800Mhz:

on another note...if the BIOS does not support the fast processor, the processor will just run at a lower speed, right? because how can a flash the BIOS if the motherboard does not support the processor in such a way as it does not work at all...

Yes, it will work. You shouldn't NEED to flash the bios. Just install it and GO!

The reason that the site doesn't list faster cpu's is because it was last "[/i]Updated: Thursday, November 1, 2001[/i]".

(Btw, the Celeron 800mhz uses a 100mhz FSB. It was the first.)

ok...got my CPU today, plug everything in...

doesnt work!

the computer turns on, everything powers up, the drives, the fans are spinning , everything looks and sounds great, but there is nothing on the monitor!

The motherboard has an integrated video card, but i also tried to plug in an AGP and a PCI videocards - same result.

There are no beeps, i checked the speaker by trying to boot without any RAM, it works.

Also the screen 'blinks' if i remove the VGA connector from the video card when the computer is powered up, which, I guess, tells me that there is some kind of voltage on it, just no signal.

Another thing is that there are diagnostic LEDs on teh mother board, they are not as much for showing the errors, but more for just showing what the BIOS is doing: when i turn the power on they first flash the "Memory, auto-size, shadow, etc." real fast and then go into one of the 'undefined' modes and stay like that.

I've also tried booting it with no drives attached...i was despirate....heh

Does it look like there is something wrong with the motherboard? What else could it be? PLEEEEAASE help!
