I've owned a lot of CPUs in the past. 95% I've bought with the purpose to overclock them. All of these were my primary system CPUs at one point over the past 15 years.

Athlon TBird 1200MHz to 1250MHz = 4.2%
Athlon TBird 1000MHz to 1350MHz = 35%
Athlon XP 1600+ 1400MHz to 1500MHz = 7.1%
Athlon XP 1800+ 1533MHz to 1600MHz = 4.4%
Pentium 4 1800MHz NW to 2520MHz = 40%
Pentium 4 2000MHz NW to 2667MHz = 33.3%
Pentium 4 2.4C to 3120MHz = 30%
Pentium 4 3.2E to 3500MHz = 9.4%

AMD 5x86 100 -> 120 20%

Celeron 366 -> 550MHz 50%

After that I got tired of screwing around to get a stable system. I like my current Athlon X2 4200+ the way it is.

AMD Athlon XP Tbred 2600+ | 2133 -> 2158 or 2241. I can't remember, but it wasn't much. This chip was from an pre-built machine.
AMD Athlon XP-M Barton 2400+ | 1800 -> 2275 = 26%
AMD Athlon X2 Brisbane 4000+ | 2100 -> 2677 = 27%
AMD Athlon X2 5000+ BE | 2600 -> 3080 = 18%. I haven't pushed this one since I don't want to raise voltages.

Other chips I've worked with:
AMD Athlon XP Tbred 1700+ | 1467 -> 2000 = 36%. I actually never pushed this one as far as it could go.
AMD Sempron 2500+ | 1750 -> 1750. This crap just doesn't overclock, at least not on the board I used, the Abit NF7-S2.

My first oc was p75 to p100 and done most of the popular ones to current.

My longest running was a celeron 366 to 550 with a slocket adapter on an Intel made 4400bx board that ran as my wifes win98 box for 3 yrs

If it can OC I've tried it

Forget history which I started from 286 8mhz to 12mhz. Let's talk about present.

I'm currently @ 3.2ghz on E6300 with 72% overclock 24/7 but I know I can do 3.5ghz with hours and hours of orthos stability with a raise of voltage which is 88% overclock. This was all done with air cooling BTW. I didn't test higher than that but I'm thinking it will do a bit more than that if I pushed it. Only thing that would hold me back is my memory and motherboard at 500+ FSB at this point.

What is your CPU overclock history?

Now there's a serious carbon footprint! :laugh:

You've probably kept at least one employee on permanent hire at AMD and Intel all these years with that kind of constant CPU purchasing.

Sorry to see your X6800 OC'ed like crap. That makes baby jesus cry just a little.

I didn't really get into OC'ing until the Pentium 100 MHz days.

Running four 300A's at 450MHz felt good but was nothing special, same as my dual 333A's at 550Mhz in my BP6. (that one made my pee-pee tingle)

My most memorable overclock was getting my 800MHz Athlon to clock (24x7 stable) to 1GHz with a goldfinger device (ooooh, the mythical GHz barrier! roar!).

My next most memorable overclock was running a quad-core at 4GHz (QX6700, vaporphase cooled). There was just something awesome about four cores all running 4GHz that made me feel good when I sat down at that rig.

P4 1.5 to 1.8 = 20%
Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2 to 2.75 = 25%
Opteron 170 2.0 to 2.6 = 30%
Q6600 2.4 to 3.2 = 33.3%
Q9550 2.83 to 3.83 = 35.3%

Looks like I'm getting better (skills/luck) with overclocking as the years have progressed
