AS5 is mediocre... not the best, not the worst. I've not had very good service out of the tube I have... the factory CM paste did better, but much depends on application technique.

So what's 'way better' than AS5? I haven't bought thermal paste in so long that I am still using AS3. Been out of the loop for a while...

Hello everyone. Just installed the cooler master 212 evo and I'm getting the cpu fan error again. Temp idle is 28 to 30c.
Wierd part is fan speed is around 500(displayed in red), so I'm guessing that's the problem.. Anyone have any ideas?
I used thermal paste.
Thanks so much for your help

Update: The unit is working excellently I played bf3 and temps got to only 40 - fan got to around 900RPM at that point I hope it doesn't keep giving me that message everytime I start up and I have to press f1 etc...

When I start up it is still telling me CPU fan error. When I press f1 and enter bios the fan speed sensor is in RED @ 500 rpm. Obviously I discard and go ahead with boot and everything is working fine and running cool. Is there a way to get past that?
thanks

That is just the PWM at work. There should be a setting in the BIOS to stop/lower the threshold which causes the alarm.

i just put diamond by antec on a i5 ivy bridge that idles at 26 with a stock cooler.

Dear OP i had the same exact problem a while back. You probably got a air pocket or the cooler is mounted funny.

edit if you fixed that then reset your bios and make sure you put the fan back on the right connector. (the cpu one)
