CPU (p3 850) acting funny

Recently, when i leave my computer on for about 12-15 hours, my computer starts to lag pretty bad after it's been on a while. I have a program that detects my CPU usage and usually it's running between 1-5%, but after about 15 hours, it's at 95%-100% constantly and my programs take forever to load up.. ANy suggestions what could be the problem?

Odd problem. Did you install anything in the past few days? Could be a program sucking up your cpu or some trojan! :Q

Have you tried it with a fresh installation of your OS. I used to have the same problems then I upgraded to win2k/xp on both of my PC's. Using the task manager utility, I was able to see that alot of processes were spawning themselves which led me to conclude that I might have a trojan.


I found a trojan on one hard drive. On the other, I foudn that it was just Kazaa eating up resources (If left alone, it will eat up memory like Rosanne Barr at a buffet).

My advice is to upgrade virus definitions and to disable any programs that you are not actively using.

sounds like a worm or trojan. scan that hard drive!
