cpu temp concerns!

amd 64 3800 venice stock hsf - grease is zalman from a friend
the zalman grease is not dry or anything
first time i applied the grease
i was hitting up to 65-67C load

the second time
i re applied and cleaned everything off it was hitting 60C-62C

now this time i used nail polish the clean the cpu and hsf
so far its idling at 42-43C but it did this the other 2 times too
then i just went back up to 60C

also the first 1 time the fan was spinning at 3k rpm
the second time when i was playing games it was hitting 4.5-5k rpm and temps were still 60C

now its back to 3k and its just idling and already the temp is at 44C

ouch you used nail polish, U need to use isopropyl alcohol 90% or more rigth away and clean the cpu and heatsink ASAP

Use high-purity isopropyl alcohol and a bit of careful rubbing.
Do not use nail polish remover as it contains fragrance oils and other contaminants.

nothing really, tommarow go out to wallgreens,cvs,target,wallmart...ect and ask for isopropyl alcohol 90% or more you can use 70% or more just not less then 70% the higer the % the esier to remove.

Go to 24 hour drug store, should be able to get some isopropyl there. Nail polish remover could eat away at your CPU. It can be nasty stuff, ate away the top coat on my dresser when sister spilt some on it.

no nothing the temps of my 3000 runs at 34C load my 4400 x2 runs at 45C on load

so mabye the nail polish is doing somthing, mabye your apliying it wrong loko at the guid ofr AS5 and get some of it also. you need to go and get so isopropyl alcohol and go to compusa they should have AS5

2.isopropyl alcohol 70%-99%

both could probly be found at compusa

like Profjhon the nailposlish can be eating away the metal you need to clean it with isopropyl alcohol I dont know how to say this any more then it is urgent!!

well its past 12 am here
i cant go out
i took out the cpu
cleaned off the thermal grease
not much more i can do at this point

i just rubbed a lil bit of nailpolish on there and then i rubbed it off
now i rubbed it clean

do u think it will be ok till tomoorw>

ya thats what I was thinking and thought you have to be 1000% stupid to put nail polish on the reson he used nail polish remover is b/c it can remove stuff and ya.

it's summer? as for the isopropyl alcohol... diabetics use it to clean off their finger before they prick themselves for a blood test every day, so all grocery store pharmacies will have the kind you need.

Also, check your heatsink for the "glossy finish" on the bottom, if you can see yourself in it, then you've got the best money can buy... If not, then you can DIY, but, it's been a while since I've read up on how to get that shiny finish ( It's done with very fine grain sand paper, not nail polish and it can get somewhat expensive ( as all DIY projects usually cost more than the store bought kind ))... I'm sure if you do some research, you can find some pros or check the Anandtech Forum archives... I don't know how far back they go, though.
