I have a coolermaster wavemaster case, 3200+ venice with cooling from a zalman 7700-cu and arctic silver 5, 2 gb of ocz platinum rev. 2 on 4 dimms, OCZ 520 powerstream and i got one 90nm fan blowing out in rear and two blowing in in front.... i also have a 6800 gt and 4 hard drives....my voltage for the cpu is at 1.5 and my ram is at 2.8....i oc'd to 2700mhz 270x10......what can i do to make it cooler??? my temps run too high 65 at load and 44 idle....

thanx

CPU temps are notoriously unreliable.

You might have a problem, on the other hand you might not.

In any case, anything lower than 65C is OK. Try to touch the CPU HS to see if it is warm or hot, short of using a sensor.

I am running 48C at idle while others reported about 35C. My MB temp is 32C so I am not worried.

FYI: I live in Tampa , FL

I have a P180 with Winny 3200@2550 1.6v on Neo 2 Plat with XP90 and Vantec Stealth fan(92mm)
my cpu has reported idle temps of 47C, case temp of 39/40C, HDD report temps of 33-35C
I have rear and top 120 mm Coolermaster fan , a 120mm tricool antec fan at medium as intake and cooling my HDD, and I have a fan on my VGA duct sucking hot air out

I have touched the cpu ..almost no warm ..seems to be very cool, hdd feel cool to sl. warm

I have a hard time knowing whether these temps are accurate....I used to temps drop 8C on reboots in spring...I have paid little attention to temps until 2 weeks ago when I got a this new case...so I do not know what my older case was doing in the summer

BTW..try everything at idle and see hwat you get..I bet very little difference..couple degrees

So...I look at stabiltiy and touch...case never gets warm, interior is cool, air blowing out is cool and not hot...so its hard to believe my case is running near 100F

Seriously, I don't really trust software temperature monitors anymore. I've got a TWO POUND Cooler Master Hyper 6 on my 3200+ Vience @ 2.7 Ghz and the stupid temp sensor is still saying ~56C Load and ~29C Idle (stock cooler said ~57C Load ~36C Idle). That is barely a difference and the stock cooler pathetic. Just make sure the air flow in your case is good and I'm sure you'll be fine.

You have any arctic silver on it? It might improve a bit if you don't already, though the stock paste is ok on these a64's.

Seems a bit hot, but i bet it's mostly the sensor.

Even though i'm sure it can't be accurate, my Venice supposedly runs about 60C under load.

I've also noticed the majority of the "my CPU is too hot threads" are started by those using Zalmans.

They may be quiet HSFs, but it seems their cooling sucks.

i took off my side cover and now my temp is 46 at load and about 37 on idle....is it because it's night time and the ambient temp. is cooler or is it cause my pc's airflow sucks???

46/37 is just fine.

You were right to worry about the 65, even if the reading is unreliable, remember it can be unreliable in either direction! If you continue to have such high temps on a regular basis, I'd lower your OC. A few percent speed increase likely isn't worth burning out your CPU.

A high HTT (FSB) is no advantage with A64. 2700 is better than 2610. But what are your memory timings? Best is to keep memory timings as low as possible, and use divider to get the MHz up. Low memory latency and high MHz is the goal.
My temps are 28 idle and 38 load per Motherboard Monitor, with A64 3500+ at 2.33 GHz and 2-2-6-2(1T). I'll test its upper limits someday using the dividers, but no need now, this is plenty fast. I agree temp reporting is inconsistent from board to board and one monitoring program vs others. Some ppl measure temps directly using a digital thermometer, tho I haven't tried it.

Wrong, raising the HTT does help, but not by much is the issue. MY 3500+ venice is running at 305x9 instead of 250x11, and using a 333 divider I get the exact same ram speed (305x.83=250) as if I was running the x11 multi. You can expect to see about 5 more fps in games, and in 3dmark 05 my score went from 6070 to 6150 using the 305 HTT.

If you are failing Prime95 and/or bluescreening, your temps are too high. Since software is totally unreliable for measuring temps, use P95 as your benchmark.
