CPU Upgrade Advice

Hi there, I am hoping to upgrade the processor in my laptop but am not 100% sure if the new one I have will fit. The laptop specs are:

Packard Bell Easynote ARGC1 or MZ35
Intel Celeron M410 Yonah CPU
Socket 479 mPGA
533 Mhz FSB
ATI RS400/RC400/RC410 Chipset
ATI SB400 Southbridge
1536MB DDR2 266Mhz RAM

The new CPU is a Pentium M 770 2 MB Cache, 2.13 GHz, 533 MHz FSB. Is this a feasible upgrade option?

from what I can tell in my research, it wont, but the t2060 and t2080. the celeron is a yonah core, as well as the t2060 and 2080.

Thanks for your response Jwade, so you are saying that only a Yonah core will work? Also do you think that an upgrade from the Celeron M410 to a Dual Core would be supported by the motherboard and the BIOS?

I see from the link you posted that the T2130 is also a dual core Yonah would that be the best upgrade option available to me?

i would go with the t2500 or the t2600. though the t2130 is cheaper, if you are going to upgrade, may as well go for the 2ghz. t2500 is $25 or less.

That looks great but both the T2500 and the T2600 have a FSB speed of 677Mhz, are you sure this will work even thought the current processor works at 533Mhz?

If 533Mhz is the fastest I can have the FSB then I think that the T2350 would be the best option as the T2450 is a tad too expensive. What do you think am I restricted to a 533Mhz FSB and if so would this dual core processor work with the BIOS in my laptop?

a t2080 will definately work (make sure you have current bios), not sure on the t2350, i see no reason why it wouldnt

the chipset for the laptop does support 667mhz bus and 667mhz memory, i see no reason why the t2500 or t2600 wouldnt work, but to play it safe go with the t2080. In my research read alot of people upgraded their MZ35's with it.

OK JWade thanks again for your help, I have decided to go with the T2080 as it is the safe option and will easily perform to the standards which I require from this laptop. Basically at the moment it lags when I play full screen videos i.e youtube etc. Although my curiosity tempts me to try one of the 633Mhz CPU's I would rather not bother with the hassle of buying and returning one when the T2080 will do the job just fine.

Ok so the upgrade worked a charm! Windows detects it as a T1080 for some reason but cpuid detects it as a T2080. The laptop now plays HD video without lag and for only £3.50 on ebay!

Ok so curiosity got the better of me and I found some info saying my mobo supports yonah and merom core with up to 667mhz bus but I did not know if the BIOS would support it. So I went and brought the cheapest merom core with 667mhz bus, a T5500 for £3 on eBay to test it out and it works a charm! Although the T5500 is not much better than the T2080 I fit previously now I know for sure the best processor I can fit is a T7600 as it is the fastest merom core 2 duo with a 667mhz bus and it also has a 4mb cache which will speed things up nicely . Great upgrade for anyone wanting to bring an old MZ35 back to life!
