I got hold of a MS-6905 cpu converter board and would like to upgrade my cpu. I have a Celeron 366 on it right now. Any suggestion on what kind I can use? Also to update the bios, should I start with the first upgrade or just upgrade to ver 2.55? This senior who is a very young newbie will appreciate the guru's input on this matter. Thank you

The motherboard will probably support up to a 1Ghz PIII@100Mhz FSB, or the 1.1Ghz Celeron with 128kb cache. The latest bios will contain all the fixes from the previous versions, so you'll only have to flash once to the latest. The bios may not show the correct CPU speed, but the processor will run at its full speed because of it having a locked multiplier. You can verify its speed with either WCPUID V3 or SiSoft Sandra.

Hey Rombu, I got the same board with a p2 350, I'm gonna drop a new celie in it with a powerleap slocket. I've done a Little research and they seem to make the new cellies run on older mobos that don't have "what it takes". Do a powerleap slocket search on google and see what comes up. But I DO know that all coppermines are supported on the board.

I feel your pain on this one. I have a couple of old Intel systems that I can't decide what to do with. I think the best bang for the buck is a 900 Celeron. You should be able to pick one up for about $60. But really, unless you are stuck on Intel, the AMD stuff is a lot more cost effective. For about $100 you can get a 1Ghz Duron w/motherboard. This will also allow for future upgrades.

The AX6BC will support CPU's with a 133 FSB, and has 1/4 PCI divider so everything isn't running out of spec, except your graphics card I think. So providing memory and graphics can handle it any of the Coppermines are usable. Celeron 900 is alright bang for buck. Your MSI slotket supports coppermine's but I don't know about it's overclocking features.
