Does anyone know a site which did it? I've been interested into this since I started to read lots of complaints about battery life expectancy of also very famous brands on different shops. A large quantity of them were delivered already discharged, even where the best before was higher than current date.

I've noticed many manufacturers use KTS batteries on their motherboards, but I can't find them anywhere for purchasing.

They likely order them in large batches of thousands at a time. Potentially created just for the motherboard market. I've had one or two lose their charge over the years and replaced them with energizer brand ones from the local store. I've not seen any reviews/comparisons either.

I've just found this site: http://www.cr2032.co/ It seems quite good, but it lacks proper comparisons. :\

I get the super cheap ones on eBay. Sometimes the Generic brands and other times I've gotten a bulk of Sony batteries. I use them in my 3D glasses for my TV and even the Generics last a good long time. I sometimes have people over to watch 3D movies a lot and I go through maybe 1 per year with about 15-20 movies on them in 6 sets of glasses.

Just because I got lucky, doesn't mean you will though. As you said, you got some that were practically DOA.

If you want good batteries look for anything made in Japan. Panasonic bought out most of the battery companies now. There are counterfeits out there though.

Very good experiences with Duracell 2032. Many years ago I bought 20 or 30 from ebay, they're serving me well.

What you want are batteries that are fresh. It used to be that an expiration (or best if used by) date was common on all packaging, but often now this seems to be being not included.

So the important thing is to buy from a supplier that sells volume as the batteries are much more likely to be fresh.

What Ive found personally with batteries in chain stores like chain drug stores is that not only are they grossly over-priced, but they typically are much closer to their "use by" dates (ie, they are old). ( And one reason why they are old is because they are grossly over priced.)

Non-intuitively, a good place to by C2032 is the local 99 cent stores; reason - they are fresh cause they sell lots of em cause the price is right.

A single batch of batteries that I had, after a year of sitting unused, tested differently across that batch. Some had 3+ volts, some had like 2.75 volts, some were even lower.

Get a cheap multimeter and test them that way. The batteries are so super cheap off ebay you can just get a batch, throw away the lower-testing ones, and come out ahead.

Careful. My mom is the discount and $1 store queen, she will buy ANYTHING if it is discounted and does not possess a bit of skepticism about it (being from a generation that predates the globalism/Chinese importation trend).

She came home once with what appeared to be a store-brand packaged two-pack of "Duracell Ultra" 9V batts, minus any store branding on the outer package. I had never seen Duracell-branded batts packaged like this, and something about them looked a little funny to me, so I contacted Duracell USA and asked if they have problems with counterfeit products in general, and about this package in particular. I sent them a photo of the package (front and back), along with the store name.

They replied back that, yes, there is a problem with counterfeit Duracell products (El Cheapo Chinese batts being branded as Duracell), no they could not say for sure whether the batts were such, but it looked suspect to them based on their knowledge of permitted Duracell repackaging and packaging agreements with retailers.

Pretty much every "premium" brand that is recognizable or popular in the USA has a problem with counterfeit products. Tide, Rubbermaid, Crest, ANY premium brand you care to name.
