Cracked screen on my daughter's Pavilion x2 10

Looks like she dropped it. Screen is no longer responsive and has cracks along the right side. Any ideas on getting the screen replaced, and what it might cost me? The model is hp pavilion x2 10-k077nr

It's a 10 inch win8 tab, like an Asus t100

Repairing that is going to cost just a little less than buying a new one. These new tablets/all in ones are using the cheapest possible glass and the parts are near impossible to come by unless you buy direct from China. I fix electronics and I don't want any part of repairing these things. Heck I even sent in the owner's SP3 because of the high cost of parts.

So buying the screen for around $40ish and taking it to my local computer repair guy isn't a great idea? I did that with a laptop that had a broken screen and they put it in for me for about $60. This repair would be worse?

I don't think you can buy a screen for $40 for that. These screens are an LCD (like you bought for your laptop), a digitizer and a pain of glass all sandwiched together and glued together.

If you can give me the model number, I'll check on parts.

Yes it is the lcd panel only. Remove the old and replace with new.

Not sure, how can u tell? She's still using it with the keyboard but the touchscreen is completely unresponsive

I'd listen to rudeguy. Screen replacement is a royal pain on mobile devices. If it's not covered under the warranty, scrap it. Unless you like the challenge, because it's not worth the time otherwise.

If it were a laptop and not a tablet with a touch digitizer, it would be a different story.
