Crackling sound after DVD

Hello, I have a friend that said their computer developed a "crackling" sound (heard from the speaker, and not the computer itself) ever since using a DVD - this DVD only had images and such.

Weird thing is, when passing the DVD onto another friend, they developed the same symptoms.

I haven't checked this out myself, but is that even possible that a DVD could cause something like that to the audio? And the audio remain crackly even after taking it out? Unlikely there is a virus on it, so wondering what it could be...

I would suspect a virus or malware on the DVD. Download/install and run Malwarebytes to see what comes up

Like I say, I don't think there is virus/malware on the DVD. Surely there would need to be more than images for that...

so do you know, without a doubt that the source computer that created the DVD is virus/malware free? Didn't think so. As soon as you get past the 'it couldn't be this, or couldn't be that' mentality, you can start taking advise given and find out what the problem could be.

If all else fails, try the DVD on a third PC. If it crackles like the 1st two... there you go.
