I picked up a Craftsman 81437 from sears about two months ago for like $29. After I bought it I discovered it was a rebadged Fluke 17B. with a couple missing buttons.

I bought a similar one a month ago (has part number 82141 on it) and it got the same exact readings as my 20+ year old Micronta - YVMV (your voltage may vary) . Coincidence? The leads that came with it are pretty nice too - YLMV. All I see it now is as part of a kit with an AC voltage detector for $25. w/ free shipping.

Nice. I believe there's a Sears in this tiny college town... might have to check if they have this item and that it's clearanced. I've been wanting a DMM lately. Another co-op last semester was big into hobby and electronic projects, he said a simple Sears/Craftsman one similar to this suited him just fine.

Assuming my local Sears has this at the clearance price which would be a rarity, I will have to pick this up. Doesn't look like I'll be getting my free multimeter from one of the free sign up deals I found here a while back so this would definitely fit the bill.

I wonder how accurate these things are? The product specs are not working...it is just loading forever.
The el-cheapo DMM I saw at some store for same price was +-4% which sucks!

I am looking at the box right now:

Basic Accuracy VDC: +/- 0.5%

I think most measurements are +/-1% and./or 1 digit.

I checked my 82141's manual and it says:
DC volts - +/- 0.5% +2 digits
AC volts - +/- 1.5% +5 digits
Resistance - up to 200kOhm - +/-0.8% +2 digits the highest scale is +/- 1% +2 digits
Other scales vary from 1.2% to 3% (high AC Current) and +2 to +5 digits.
