Craigslist is so big I don't see how Craig can be held responsible for any of its content. I always thought that if a post is questionable it's up to the Craigslist community to have the post deleted.

Personally, I believe prostitution sting operations are wastes of our tax dollars. There are enough violent crimes and theft to keep cops busy. Laws against prostitution is akin to Prohibition.

The way I see it, if they can bust these people via Craigslist they should just keep on doing it. There's no reason to let a couple bad apples screw it all up and bring the hammer down on the guy since 99.999% of the people using the service are using it in the way it was truly intended. Hypersensitivity is quickly turning our nation into a police state

It is. The Seattle P-I is a competitor to online classified services, and the fact is that print newspapers are losing the battle. Readership and revenue have been declining steadily for years. So if the P-I can spin a little bad press, legal trouble, and grassroots hate at Craigslist, they will.

No kidding. It's in dozens of cities, and yet he's supposed to review every post to make sure nothing's illegal?

When the busts go down, who will be hurt most?

It won't be the johns.

It won't be the Web site operators.

It will be the prostitutes, some of them victims yet again.

The sluts need to find another job then.

Great idea. You want to pick up black men, and the first place you look is the internet?

Umm... A-DUH!

Try the basketball courts (sorry, no racism intended).

I use to get the P-I myself. The paper would just pile up week after week. I found it much easier and cheaper to get my news from the internet. In terms of classifieds, nothing beats Craigslist which has a huge presence in Seattle.

Agreed... people are too busy, getting into other peoples business! Everyone has a knee jerk reaction to some media blip and the next thing you know we have another law, and one more civil right taken away from us.

What a load of bull. That seems to me to be no different than if they tried to bust Verizon because escort services are listed in the Yellow Pages.

Well what he can do to try and protect himself is do what Eros does (at least for his adult section), anyone who wants to post a racy ad has to fax in a copy of their TDL, and sign a waiver stating they are of age and that states Craigslist will not condone illegal activities and that the person agrees to not utilize their website for illegal activities.. it is worded in such a way that still allows room for an escort to advertise freely, and lays down the law on how things are worded in the ad. He can also clean it up a bit, and only allow pictures of certain quality, or blur out certain areas of the pictures. Most of the gals who advertise on Craigslist are not pros... in my opinion.. and their ads are on the raunchy side. I think the article states that they are now going to make it a little harder for the public to just browse these type ads. That is at least a step in the right direction. One has to register on the site now to access the adult section.

LOL... I think we have some closet hobbyists on ATOT...

You know better than anyone here. My guess is that there are hobbyists from all walks of life. I use to think it was mainly politicians since they could afford it and have a lot of free time on their hands. I read an article a while back that indicate that the main demographic is married men in their 40s and 50s.

Yes, mostly upper middle class professionals. Doctors, Lawyers a ton of computer geeks..LOL Judges, Oil men, philanthropists, City Council members... you name it. But because of the increase of internet advertising for escorts, there has been a surge of those in the computer industry who visit the escorts as well.

You are right though, you have to have dough to play. Most younglings do not have that type of disposable income.

Most professional escorts won't even see a man under the age of 30. There are those who feel the maturity level has to be there before they will even consider "companionship" time with a gentleman.
