I had this happen in the dining room on the cruise that I was recently on. Completely disgusting!!! The stupid mom and her family should have been kicked out and banned completely for doing that in there.

As for the story in the OP, same. No excuse for changing a diaper where others are eating....not fucking excuse at all.

I can see why restaurants that ban children are doing brisk buisness. Modern parents are slobs, look at the feral like children in public places.

This kind of behavior was unheard of 30 years ago.

All she had to do was, "waitress, I have to run out and change my child's diaper; I'll do it at my van. My two children have been instructed to stay at the table." If your 8 year old and a 4 year old can't stay quiet and seated for 5 minutes, you're doing a pretty poor job of parenting.

Leave them alone? In a restaurant?? But with the hundreds of millions of annual child abductions, there would be virtually no chance that they would still be there when she returned.

:hmm:
But maybe if she equipped each one with a gun.....that could work.

+1

A 4 year old with an Uzi in a restaurant can be an ugly thing

As a father who has had to bring young children to places, I commiserate with the mother's plight. With that said, what she did is completely unacceptable.

I've been in these types of situations and usually I'll ask the restaurant if there is a place I can change my kid's diaper. Most restaurant workers are completely understanding. I'm sure they would have found an out of the way spot for the mother to change the kid's diaper.

As someone who is going out to eat, I don't want to be eating on the same table you just changed a diaper on. Hell, I don't do that in my own house, why the hell would I want you to do it on a table where I might be eating?

She used an empty chair at the table, not on top of the table itself. That being said it's still a really bad idea, people are eating their dinner, the last thing they want to see or smell is a soiled diaper..

Now even CNN has picked it up. Link

Gives an idea of the layout of the restaurant and shows the girl that kicked them out.

This is what I didn't understand. She had already left her other kids at the table by themselves when she went to the bathroom to change the baby's diaper. She couldn't leave them at the table to go to the car? If what she says is true that it took very little time to change the actual diaper, she really couldn't have run out to the car with only the baby and changed the diaper and been back in less than 5 minutes?

I actually feel bad for the restaurant to have that kind of negative publicity on them, even if they are in the right (which I believe they are). I'm not far from Spring, TX, and probably won't ever venture out there to eat (due to just never being in that area), but if I were close to there, I probably wouldn't go there just from the mental image of potential shit on the table. I realize it's an irrational way of thinking, but that's what impressions can do to someone. If I see that restaurant, I'll think about this article. If I think about this article, I'll think about the shit on the table. If I think about the shit on the table, I won't want to eat there lol. Again, irrational, I know.

Hope the restaurant won't lose too much business from this.

edit: also, doesn't she realize that changing a diaper like that can be and probably is considered a health hazard? It's a restaurant for crying out loud.

why would you go on tv? most sane people think that lady is fucking nuts.

She thinks she has a lawsuit.

Why inconvenience her own family for the sake of an entire restaurant?

Do you know who I am?!?!?!?

I have had to yell at parents trying to dump their dirty diapers in a parking lot, allowing/telling their child to go pee next to a car (and basically on that car), etc.

Parent's are ridiculous today and the sad part is their kids by experiencing this believe it's the right thing as they grow up.

Totally fucked up.

to be fair, most family restaurants are filthy germ orgies even without diaper changing.
But calling yourself a family restaurant and not having a diaper station in the womens restroom is just asking for trouble.

Let me play devils advocate here. (Not sure this is exactly the situation but bare with me)

So the mothers there with her kids. Food has been delivered but not payed for. Baby messes diaper. No changing table.

Do you walk out with your entire party to the car to change the diaper saying, "I'll be back", as you go? Assuming the place doesn't call the police assuming you've stiffed them for the meal.

Do you ask to to pay the check first then go outside and come back? Assuming your table will still be there when you get back and allowing the baby to sit in shit while you wait for the check and stink up the place?

Do you quickly change the diaper and hope no one notices?

Do you never go out with a child until they are 18 so sensitive special flowers don't have to encounter children while they are out?
You just played idiots' advocate. The better question to ask is: ”How many idiots does it take to change a diaper?”

I changed my son's diaper in a mall restaurant bathroom with no changing table once. It was a horror show with poop up the back of his shirt and down his legs. It was like the worst crime scene you could imagine.

The point is, I did it. Changing a poopy table where people are eating is about as classless as you can get...

In China the kid would have taken a deuce on the floor.

Yeah, in China children walk around with a gaping hole in the private parts of their pants so they can easily take a piss or dump wherever they please. Disgusting. This is accepted in China.

I see. But taking a big old steaming dump in the thread is perfectly fine.
