Crappy keyboard ruined my PS2 port!

I was using this really crappy keyboard for a while, and once I finally, replaced it, I tried to plug in my new keyboard. But, for some odd reason, the keyboard would not plug into the PS2 keyboard port! I wondered what was wrong, and I looked at the old keyboard's plug. The little black platic thing in the middle of the connector was gone! It had broken off and stuck itself in the PS2 port!

Thankfully, this is also a USB keyboard, but now I can't install Linux, because there is no keyboard plugged into the PS2 port! How the heck can I get this little black pin out of my PS2 port? Is it of any use? I'd like to free up a USB port, so any help is appreciated.

Put your keyboard in your Mouse PS2, and Put your Mouse (if its also USB) into your USB.

tiny screw...i'd thread a tiny bit into the black peice and pull it out.

Same thing happened to me..... I just took a really tiny screwdriver and drilled a whole into it untill it fit.....

Spikesoldier, already tried that, and apparently the keyboard will not operate when plugged into the mouse's PS2 port. And, my mouse is already USB.

Does anyone know what purpose that little black piece of plastic serves? I mean, other than preventing you from trying to plug your keyboard into your VGA port or something.

an exacto knife or just a steak knife might be able to get it out...or a super powered vacuum

also you could get a ps/2 extension cord, and just bust off the little piece on the end of the extension cord, and plug in your keyboard on the other end, thus not damaging your keyboard

Yes! I was able to pry out the thing on my USB-PS2 adapter. Sweet!

No reason to do that unless we get rid of all LPT ports, serial ports, etc. That won't happen because then I wouldn't buy that MB.
