this guy needs to relax.

tldr:
Microsoft—in a nutshell—is a company that had one successful product that we are all beholden to—that then used that capital to buy other people’s products and ruin them. They are not bad people, but they do stab their friends in the back. Also, they are a bunch of nerds, which is probably why they have never managed to produce a decent interface.

Google—in a nutshell—is a company that had one successful product that we are all beholden to—that then used that capital to buy other people’s products and ruin them. They are not bad people, but they do stab their friends in the back. Also, they are a bunch of nerds, which is probably why they have never managed to produce a decent interface.

Apple is a company that produces amazing, human-usable products. I love them for the same reason I love any such company, and I forgive them their eccentricities because their products are so amazing. They make decisions that I’m told are bad for me, yet I don’t see that reflected in their products as I use them.

crazy or not they're right, MS & Google couldn't make a good UI to save their lives. The shit they said about Apple is way over the top, but I wouldn't argue about what they said about MS or Google.

Apple does make good UIs. That's the thing they excel at, and have for years.
That, and controling the hardware/software of their devices. Which is a double eddge sword - it limits what works with their programs, but also exerts a good measure of quality control.

I'm not a real big fan of any tech company, just individual products.
People who turn into gadget cultists need to relax and allow everyone else to be pragmatic.

What's so awesome about Apples ui? It's the same as any other one, just a little different. Not better different, just different.

Really? I guess we're ignoring Zune HD, Windows Phone 7, Windows 7, Office 2007 and GMail. All of these have great UIs (unless you're anti-ribbon).

Zune HD is the best, most intuitive portabe media player I have ever used.

Microsoft has been on par with Apple as of late with their latest products. Google is close to blowing both out of the water on nearly all fronts.

Are you kidding me? I'm guessing you must mean in their portable offerings because the Mac OS has *never* had a good UI.

Making a good UI is easy when you strip away all possible functionality. No multi tasking? No need for UI support.

Even my welfare LG Xenon supports multitasking, lol. Porn on the web + text messaging at the same time

This is so stupid, I can't believe they did this. My friend was having problems with a DVD so he put it in his macbook to see if the computer could play it. Turns out the DVD really was screwed, so the macbook kept chewing away at it and would let go of it. We had to check online how to get that shit out of there. It was something like hold certain buttons while it's powering on.

I eject a disc by pressing the eject button on my keyboard, or pressing the button on my drive. Both are easy, logical ways to do it. You definitely don't have to eject a disc the way you mentioned. In fact I didn't even know you could until you said this. I suppose having more ways to accomplish a task is a bad thing? Sure it doesn't make sense, but you can still use the button on the drive, right click and hit eject or press a button on a keyboard. Since Windows has no eject on keyboard button I'ma have to give the thumbs up here to Apple.

Minimize/maximize/close in the upper left corner of the window.. WTF!?
Upper left corner actually makes more sense to me since I almost always close a window right after I save a document. With the file menu with the save option on the left side this is the perfect place for the buttons IMHO. The only people who have a problem with this are people who've only used Windows and simply are use to having it on the right side.

No taskbar... WTF!?
Dock >>>>> Taskbar. I spent money for ObjectDock on Windows to mimic what OSX has. And a huge plus for Dock is I can have any program on my dock auto open when I boot my system up with 2 clicks. Same thing to stop a program from auto loading on boot. With Windows it's a PITA to accomplish this. Windows Taskbar is like a limiting version of Dock. If you can explain to me what's better about a Taskbar I'm all ears.

I like my Zune HD (it was free!!), but any portable media player without dedicated volume controls cannot be called "most intuitive."

Good enough for Microsoft to rob wholesale for Windows 7 and Google to borrow heavily for Nerdroid.

Too bad neither of the aforementioned companies have any decent graphic designers on the payroll which explains the lack of polish on their respective products.

I'll agree that Android doesn't have the UI polish that the iPhone OS has (yet), but it does have a hell of a lot more functionality. That's mostly because Steve Jobs decides what he thinks Apple users want, while the Android platform lets their developers decide what the users want.

It's the same deal with Mac vs Windows... Steve decides what new features should be on the next Mac platform, while Microsoft and the PC community let the developers and marketplace decide. I think that we all know who's winning the market-share war on that battlefront.

That's not to say that Apple will ever go away... I'll sure that they'll continue to sell simple to use boutique high end products, which will continue to be popular with Hollywood celebrities and rabid Apple fan-boys like this blogger. Good for them. Personally, I'm getting an Android phone when my iPhone contract runs out... and I'm holding out for a tablet that supports Flash before I buy it.

I will never understand why someone would want to put an Apple logo/decal on their car. I once saw 'iPod, iPhone & iBook user' on this guy's rear window. What the fuck. Do people actually think it's in the same vein as, say, wearing a T-shirt with the Linux penguin on it? It's not, you idiots. At least linux represents an ideology of sorts: open-source, money-saver for governments, small businesses and end-users in developing nations, flexibility etc.

What the hell does a Mac badge on your stupid SUV represent? That you're a pretentious prick living in some bubble?

I think an SUV in the suburbs already represents that.
The sticker is like insult to injury or something.
