Arsonists should be shot. Period.
After we got the City Mand Evac, we hesitated--it is our house. We got the sprinkler turned on, I sprayed the areas susceptible to harboring those damned embers, and I went over across to my friend's house, and he has a view of I-5 and the lagoon&canyon and he's on a hill (so are we, but you could not tell and we dont have the view). So we're looking out for sparks & embers flying across the freeway and setting fire to the brush in the lagoon and spreading up the hill. The FD were busy fighting blazes 7 miles east, and we could see the blazes. We used my friend's night vision goggles (outlines humans and animals in light and/or heat) to pick up the intensity of the heat signals. We were also watching TV to see wtf was going on. The blazes got bigger, then died down, then got bigger, and then finally, the whole area was wreathed in smoke...it was impossible to pick up any concentrated heat signal in that area. Soon after, the night vision broke down. Around 12:43, police with sirens came down the street with mics telling us about the emergency evac. My friend did not go, because he did not want to go, and we saw that it was really an evac from the smoke--and the city trying to cover its tail (my friend had air conditioning, so it wasn't a problem for us--my house doesn't). So we stayed, preparing, praying, hoping. My parents called saying that we were going to Long Beach because of the damned smokey smell. The sky was pretty clear, the moon shone out brightly, it was not veiled in a bloody light as it had been on Sunday. And there were even stars in the sky...so we did have hope. Also there was no wind, it was dead in the air.
So we went to long beach at around 12:50, the police came by again, urging peeps to leave (they can't make you leave, and many people didn't), we said good luck to our house, took my tooth brush, and away we went. Had a sweet breakfast this morning, heard from my friend no fire at all nearby, very little wind. Fire was devastating other parts of San Diego, but not mine. Very lucky.
Went to the Getty Museum, stared at all the nudes of course, and then the evac got lifted around 3:45 I think, we went home.
The End??????
(I hope so)
