I-35 is a great example as to why we need a state wide high speed rail network. Between major cities like DFW and Waco, it's mostly two lanes, and needs to be three because of the traffic congestion. Luckily north of Hillsboro going towards Ft. Worth via 35W isn't so bad, but the to/from Dallas 35W side of it is falling apart IIRC. It's been a while since I've been on 35E south of Dallas however......and even longer since I've been to Austin.

A fine example of 35W being a complete piece of crap however is as you're heading north just as you past 820, and the combining lanes are like a venturi tube, taking 5 lanes of traffic into 2 within a couple miles. It's always a mess, regardless of time of day.

I live in DFW, there are some terrible drivers here, basically everything inside the 635 loop is horrendous. Austin is bad, I've still never seen worse than Houston though.

Phoenix was probably the best I've seen in terms of roads and conditions, though I imagine drunks and such can ruin just about anywhere.

I lived in Phoenix, and everything is wide and spaced out, which is nice. I think Toronto was pretty good, because they had dedicated lanes for people going long distances, and the inner lanes were for people exiting. Somewhat like what LA has for carpool lanes, except more lanes for the longer distance travelers. I think NY was the worse driving I've been in. It can be bumper to bumper and really aggressive. Its like they don't care if they ding you. On an occasion when I flew in, the taxi driver was fearless, but there was no accidents. Its weird, they honk and swear and faint ramming at each other, but it all works out.

I wonder daily what the hell has people in such a damn big hurry that they couldn't foresee needing more time to get wherever they're going. Or I guess they just like to drive like they own the highway.

I see people throw their hands up from the wheel like they're exasperated because they've caught up to someone in the left passing lane but don't give the people ahead of them time to change lanes before they pass them on the right.

Because I swear this town has to be the worst place in the country as far as the amount of mouth-breathing, oxygen deprived dipshits cruising in the passing lane. You have 2 choices, be stuck behind some Tom Cullen M-O-O-N sonofa bitch going 15 mph slower than the flow of traffic in the passing lane, creating a giant cluster-fuck of a dangerous congested mess waiting for them to get the fuck over when 90% of the time they don't until their exit is a brake slamming 500 feet away; OR you can just pass the asshole the first chance you get, get into a clear spot ahead in traffic, and chill the fuck out.

CRAZY BASTARDS.

Speed and power is initiative! That's right, **** all the other idiots on the road, because they will probably screw you over in some way, shape or form. Best to just get around them and get in the right lane to cruise at traffic speed until you have to pass another idiot who thinks they can get away with going 55 MPH in a 65 MPH zone.

Thats right Nancy! You teach those big ole' mean people on the road! Keep them in their place, you don't like em going fast so just block their way and cost em money, right?

Let me ask you, if you aren't passing in the passing lane, just what the fuck exactly are you doing there?

Also, you know some people have these things called jobs... sometime these 'jobs' require them to be on the road to do this thing called 'work'; the longer they take to do this 'work', the less money they get to 'earn' overall. Is that understandable?

Everytime I'm in the Toronto area, I'm amazed at how fast and close traffic is on those big divided highways, it's crazy. One slight wrong move and 100's of lives are possibly in danger. Heck, a simple piece of debris falling on the street could cause quite a lot of chaos.

Here it's called tailgating, in big cities, it's normal.

I drive I-10 in Houston every day, but I think driving in Dallas or Austin SUCKS. One major problem with Texans is that they have their favorite lane. They will get in that lane and drive whatever speed they are comfortable with, independent of what traffic around them is doing.

what does that have to do with Texas? you can find major interstates in every state that have drivers going to close at 70+ mph

I don't think you understood me. I was exemplifying the practice of the left lane being for faster traffic, and for getting around slow right lane drivers. I deal with it everytime I'm on highway 287 which is a 65 MPH two lane freeway at the moment. Often enough you get some guy in the right lane who is going 63 or so and some retard in the left lane is right next to him going the same speed, creating a wall preventing faster traffic from flowing through smoothly. What happens next is the guy in the left lane finally gets the idea that he's an idiot, gets in the right lane, and as you're going to pass him, he starts to speed up to your speed (something like 68-70). It's as if people don't watch their speedometers, and in some unconsciously manner, attach to other cars regardless of the speed. Drives me batshit, especially at night.

OP is an ignorant douche, you can find dimwit drivers all over the country, it was pretty unnecessary to call out TX. Also, your uppity ass could have taken 45 if you hated "TX Traffic" so much... screw you OP, you fail at several levels.

So, was in Austin/San Marcos over the weekend hanging out with dirty hippies and having a great time.

On the way home, traveling North I-35 from Austin, we were in bumper to bumper traffic going 70 mph. I'm not sure what causes YA'LL to think that is a great idea, but you continue to get in horrible car accidents and cause all sorts of mayhem.

Going through Austin, something caused the 70mph traffic to come to a screeching halt. Our van made a safe smooth transition from 70 to 0 unscathed. However, the driver next to us wasn't so lucky.

We hear a horrible screeching of tires. As I look over, I notice the SUV make its way towards the concrete divider to avoid hitting cars around him (namely us). The front of the SUV exploded into hundreds of pieces and the SUV whipped around and around. It caused a huge accident, just feet away from me.

Slow down and pay attention, everyone, everywhere, please. This guy made it out all right, but he sure caused a big headache for everyone. And likely numerous injury for people behind him on the interstate. CRAZY BASTARDS.
This is why you drive near the emergency passing lane: so you can pass when everyone else comes to a stop.

/OP's driver = fail

What makes you think rednecks drive better?

you don't make any sense... get out more often, from you mom's basement... TX is possibly the most diverse state. Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, four totally different cities..
