Grid if you like road racing, Dirt 2 if you like off-road racing. Either one is a good choice.

I bought Dirt 2. The rest didn't really look all that appealing to me. 9.99 for Dirt 2 is still a hell of a deal.

For anyone who doesn't have a 360 controller, but has a PS3 controller, check out MotionJoy. After you install it, you can configure it to make your PS3 controller look like a 360 controller to windows, so it will work with any games that say 360 controller compatible. The vibration works, and you can even use it wirelessly if you have bluetooth.

GRiD is a great game. It's NOT the best racing game ever created (by a long shot), it doesn't have the most cars, and it doesn't allow you to customize your cars (other than colors and sponsors), but it does have a great amount of variety and action. The physics aren't the best, but they're far more realistic than your average arcade racer (Need for Speed series, for example). I also find the AI to be pleasantly adequate, only lacking in aggressiveness in turns and crash recovery.

It works fine with the keyboard for me (WASD for accel / brakes / turns, up and down keys for shifting), but I had to tweak a few settings in the options menu to get the turning "radius" correct and other twitchy-ness.

For ~$6, everyone should grab it.

Do they really leave DRM on these Steam downloads? At the bottom of the FUEL page:

software installations required including Sony DADC SecuROM

I might pick up the original DiRT because at $2.50 it is cheap enough for me to play once or twice and then never look at it again.

Maybe on FUEL. The latest patches of DiRT (I bought the retail copy, as well as the steam version for a cheap back-up) removed all DRM (even removed the disc check).

I would install every game besides FUEL to be honest. DiRT is my favorite game. If you like rally racing, it's worth way more than you are paying. If you like racing SIMS, it's not as customizable, but it's closer to the real thing compared to every other game.

Driving the classic Subaru Impreza (a car I own) with the Logitech Momo Racing set is almost like the real thing cutting through corners. The only thing I don't like is the precision skill it takes to shift correctly in the games. I change the shifter to a hand-break.

I installed Dirt 2 and been playing with the must have a windows live gamer profile to save game DRM stuff for about 2 hours I might just get rid of steam altogether and have my visa refund me the 17.50, this is nonsense. I used my bing account and it wanted another game id and linked the 2 together, but my name was taken so now have 2 names for same account and it is a real mess. Opens windows in background etc, says I have been playing the game 1.5 hours and I haven't got it to work 1 minute yet.

I don't know why people are saying it's impossible to control with the keyboard. It's rather easy once you get the hang of it, which doesn't take long. I've played both Dirt 2 and Grid with my $10 microsoft comfort curve and have no problems racing.

Wow, I never had any problems with GFWL.

Then again, I have a Xbox Live id that is brain dead simple to login with in GFWL.

No problems here. I used the same login as I did for NBA 2K10 and Gears of War.

Sorry I guess.
