creating a NTFS partition

Hello,
Is there a way to create a NTFS partition in DOS? Are there any programs out there that will do this?
I know there are ways to create the partitions in windows and also a way to convert a partition in a windows command prompt, but is there any way to just create one in DOS?

Nope. You have to let NT/W2K/XP create it or use a 3rd party tool like Partition Magic.

I may be wrong, but I thought you can create the actual partition with FDISK, just not format it in DOS? To format it you need to use NT/2K/XP.

I have partition magic (7), but I've never actually used it before... is there a way to make the NTFS partition in DOS using partition magic?

I'm sure it says in the manual what it will let you do..

You can actually create and delete partitions using FDISK, but unless you are familiar with this utility, I would use Partition Magic. I used version 7 before and found it to be very user-friendly.

Just a couple of things though. Be very careful when it asks you to format the partition as you don't won't to lose all of you're data by formatting the wrong one, and create back-up disks.

If you are thinking of running a Multi-os system (eg. win98 + winxp) dont' forget to use a boot manager. I'm pretty sure that there is one included with Partition Magic 7.

well, if you're using the PM7 bootdisks, then you're basically doing it in dos..
