With so many technologies and fields involved in IT, I really think that there are better options than SQL. I understand what you're trying to accomplish, and it sounds like a great experiment, but SQL... really?

I would tech something that offers some return or reward in the end. When you helped them with their club website, at least they had something to show for it. With SQL, all you have is an ugly-ass database.
