I recently got in on the same deal but with a 10% off promotion. My order has not even been prepared yet (they are backordered). Do you think they will adjust my price to reflect the 15% off instead? Has anyone been in a similar situation before?

Zen adds support for USB 2.0 (but not firewire) and also uses standard 2.5" notebook drives so a lot of people have already upgraded to a 40Gb or 60Gb drive. Ipods are nice but hard to pass up a Zen at $212.

I was in a similar situation 3 weeks ago (the price had dropped $10) - I called them and they credited the difference back to my credit card. So just give it a try!

AVOID this product like the plague. You cannot replace battery. Not even their service dept. can replace it (just like the Ipod). After 2 years, the battery will die, as Li-Ion loses its charge at that time regardless! You will have a paper weight on your desk IN 2 YEARS!............That is the reason why they are going cheap!!! :Q

I don't have Zen.. but all the comments (virtually all negative) on CNet really surprise me.

Either they are all written by Apple people, or Zen is really not worth buying.. .....

Me thinks one of those in store "extended warranties" may come in handy in a situation like this. Anyone have a clue if any extended warranties will cover the Zen batteries?

I've had mine for about 6 weeks and love it. The battery isn't user replaceable but Creative has said they will provide a replacement service if needed. It's rumored to cost $99 but not confirmed. Ipods require a similar service from Apple. Still even if the battery dies in 2-3 years it's a great deal at $212. I'm sure in that time I'll want a bigger capacity/smaller form factor player any way. In the meantime I've got 3406 songs (and counting) that go with me everywhere.

Creative charges $99 for battery replacements when your zen is out of warranty. Apple charges $250 to replace the ipod battery. Both devices' battery's cannot be removed.
