If I were to call, I'd only ask if they had the item in stock, not how much it was. I'd take my chances if I knew they had it in, and hurry on over. My problem is that I don't have any local stores. However, I don't know if them checking the stock over the phone would inadvertently show them the price as well, although I'm guessing it would be only natural that it did. Puts me in a bad spot.

Yeah, that was me. Sorry but how could I pass up this deal. Also we only had 3 even and the 3 openers for the wireless dept bought them. As far as it being a mistake, I was never told anything about that. Then again we kept this largely to ourselves in the store in case management wouldn't let us. But a clearance tag printed out with the $20 price on it and it's listed as Discontinued in our system. So who knows.

Got the last one in Santa Maria, ca. The sales guy kept trying to talk me out of buying it.....mentioning it had no USB cable or battery (it was a display model) but that wasn't going to stop me. I mean sheesh, a battery is only 18 bucks or so on ebay and I already have a USB cable for my Zen Micro that works. Also got the 2 yr replacement warranty for 6 bucks or so. If something were to malfunction I could walk out with an equivalent player.......too stoopid.....

Deal's dead in Rock Hill, SC.

I called the store yesterday and they told me the price was $20 and they had 3 in stock, I just couldn't make it yesterday.

Went this morning prompt @ 10am when the store opened and had them look it up, and it was back to 219.99 (saw the price onscreen myself), and the employees there claimed to know nothing about it being twenty bucks, but they assured me that if they had known about it, they would be out of stock.

Flo - Discontinued, but the chick on the phone told me they had one on display. I asked her when they planned to have some in stock again and she just shurgged it off. . .oops. I may take a drive up there tonight just for the hell of it and see wtf is going on.

Both the stores in Columbia do not have them anymore. All they have is the 40gb ones. DAMN IT! Anyone want to part ways with one? 35 dollars.

Quick report from East Texas, Northen LA area. Tried to buy one in Lufkin, TX store and almost made it all the way to buy but a manager had to unlock the case for me and when he heard the price he walked off, walked back and said that they couldn't sell it for that price. Before doing all this he had asked how many they had in stock so needless to say if I find out they are oos today, I'll call corporate on him. Called my dad and had him check Longview (got one there with shelf marked 20) and Tyler (computer showed 3 units but it was another one of those "stock mistakes") while I drove to Shreveport. Got to Shreveport and they had two in box which I bought. Would've bought the display to but it was looking pretty bad. Also had a friend check the College Station, TX store but they said that all of their's had been shipped to the Galleria-Houston store (yeah right).
Summary: Got three with 2yr replacement warranties and I will now kiss the ground Xed walks on!

BTW, if you think you might still get in on this deal DO NOT CALL. Checking stock also shows price and when they see price they either buy them all up or have a stroke of store loyalty and call a manager.

 

Im going to try one in seattle, going for a deal on ram, maybe ill get lucky with the mp3 player....

good luck man, they were pretty much sold out 6/12 before noon.... in fact, some of the employees bought them themselves.. oh yeah. California is confirmed for this deal.

To confirm the questions, Florida stores also were part of this deal, however they were OOS in Boynton, Boca, and Ft. Lauderdale. WPB showed they had some, but when I had the salesperson call the that store to hold one, they said that despite it showing in stock, they've had ppl already asking, but they could not find them. I presume the employees have them stashed until thier shifts end.

Confirm Florida.
