Creative FATAL1TY 3.5mm

Greetings, all!

So, I'm looking for a new headset for gaming, and I've done a bit of browsing. After looking at models of different prices and qualities, the Creative FATAL1TY 3.5mm ($50 at Newegg) seems pretty decent-- it's received stellar reviews not only at Newegg, but elsewhere as well. Do any of you guys have experience with this headset, or have one you believe to be better?

A mike is required, and I'm looking for decent audio fidelity.

I personally am not fond of the Creative brand and tend to avoid their products, but in this case, I don't see any compelling reason why this headset wouldn't be perfectly adequate for your needs. A gaming headset used for gaming makes sense. It's a little pricey, though. I have a nice speaker system for listening to music, so I'm willing to go a little cheaper on the headphones for multiplayer gaming (mostly CS:S). I use a cheap plantronics headset with mic and it works great.

There are two Fatal1ty headsets USB and the analog one. I assume you mean the analog one
because 50 bucks for the USB one would be a steal.

I do not have experience with this particular headset but I used other Creative headphones (EP-630 and Aurvana Live) and liked them. If you google reviews for Fatal1ty headset they all say it is a decent product, not awesome, but good value for money that's for sure e.g.:

What strikes me is that e.g. extremetech compared them against Sennheiser headset (which I used and often recommended) and concluded that this Creative headset was actually better. At 50 bucks I would not think twice, and yes, if you have a link, please share here.

Well, I'll follow up on the topic-- I purchased the headphones; they were $53 at Circuit City. I really do like them a lot, and would definitely recommend them to anyone else if asked. The detachable mic is nice (although, one must be careful, as it can only be attached in a very specific manner), and the sound is pretty decent.

They are not bad for the price. I have trashed my volume/mute button located on the cord. decent for the price and if one is gentle with them.

I have owned them for 4 months. they are great. A reccomendation though. buy a 3.5 splitter to run speakers and a 6 ft exenstion for the mic so you more easily plus and play if you don't have a front pass through. I like the complete over the ear feeling of them and I can wear them for hours without them bothering me. the mic is loud clear and flexable. nice long wire. kinda loose plastic consgruction that would make you think they are kinda cheap. they do feel cheap.. don't get me wrong but they work like champs.
