Creative Inspire T2900 Computer Speakers for Free?

Fry's has the Ceative Inspire T2900 Computer Speakers for $29.99 in-store price (check out this ad from this thread. Circuit City, starting tomorrow, has this set of speakers on sale. It's $49.99 with $20 mail-in rebate as well as a $10 instant savings, bringing the speakers at Circuit City down to $19.99.

Would it be possible to tell Circuit City to pricematch the speakers at Fry's original price of $29.99 and still have the $20 mail-in rebate and $10 instant savings apply, making the speakers free after rebate? The first problem is that I would have to tell Circuit City to call Fry's, closest one from my Circuit City being over 50 miles away. Also, although I have gotten rebates from Circuit City after pricematching an item before, I'm not sure if this still works.

You could probably have them do the price match and maybe get the rebate, but I highly doubt they'd also give you the $10 instant savings on top of the price match. The best way to go about this is to buy the speakers first and then go back for the price adjustment, hoping that they (CC) don't know about their $20 rebate.

I've also heard rumors CC doesn't do rebates on PM's so it might not work...

its not a rumor...as far as i can tell. i always shot down when rebates are involved.

Worked for me once (the only time I tried it). I bought a Santa Cruz Turtle Beach sound card, got it PMed to CompUSA, I think, and then received the rebate for it as well. The card turned out to be $6 before taxes.

Same here, My local CC would say the price is the same after all the rebates so no PMing.

The official stance of CC and BB is that they WILL pricematch STORE REBATES, but not MANUFACTURERS rebates. So, if the rebate is a Fry's rebate they should do it. If it's a Creative Labs rebate, no go.

The $10 instant savings would be no problem.

My BB clearly states that they don't match rebates, period. CC in the past has been documented to match store-specific rebates from other stores, but that's been pretty YMMV. ("Instant rebate" being considered an outright price discount in either case.)
