lispux, sometimes i only have 10 minutes to watch a movie. 16x helps me zoom through. You mean you've never watched a movie on fast forward before? Do you know what you can do with all that saved time????

Anyways a faster DVD is needed for ripping them. All things being equal you'd want the faster one too right? In the future (maybe) we'll be using DVD Romsa lot more, so the the fast DVD will come in handy too.

yes, convert them to mpeg4 using divx codec, then burn 'em to cd using ur 32x12x40 cd burner. yep 32x cd burners are on there way, oak came out with 32x controller chip few weeks ago.

Most people are hypocrites though. You're saying all this crap, but when it comes to cars you probably want the most hp you can get...unless that is you drive some crap like a hyundai accent.

Where? I'd rather not go through the questionable $59.99 IOMega deal. First off, you have to spend about $110.00 and wait for a rebate that seems questionable at best (50/50). Secondly, the only reason I wanted a DVD drive was so that I could watch DVD movies on my machine. Since 5X is plenty (and a decoder card), this deal seemed perfect for me.
