there is a short blurb on this in this months issue of Popular Science...

it does some magic on known imperfections with mp3 playback, and "fixes" them to sound closer to the [presumed] original cda music.

sounds like a pretty cool gadget...

The crystallizer also boosts bass and treble and introduces some distortion. It might be good for some things but will make others sound worse.
There are plenty of X-Fi threads in General Hardware if anyone wants to check out more info on them.

Without the "features" turned on, this is a great card for clean music playback, gaming, and the improved surround headphone feature looks the most appealing to me.

Ordered one and just got back from local pickup. Be sure and use ebates (or other preferred incentive program) for an additional 2% off!

I have not looked into detail on the rebates, but I hope they will go through and are not in fact duplicates.

I am hoping the rebates work too. They each call for a copy of the original reciet/ upc code, so no worrys there. I just hope that CC didn't screw up and list the same rebate twice.

Just installed. upgrade from realtek ac97 onboard on asus k8n-e deluxe. No problems so far. Huge difference listening to mp3's. easy install too.
