got two for 29.99 each. not bad at all if you like trance, hip hop, techno, or anything that is bass-ful. The remote is pretty nice, and I have a muvo so its even better.

I wanted to get in on this but my local CC doesn't have them and the other CC is an hour and a half away. Naturally the furthest store has them but I'm not driving that far and these aren't available online. *sigh* Such great luck.

I got these for ~$9.99 in the last deal. They are WAY better than my Crapaq 2.0 speakers. The sub is very powerful, and the high and low range are good. Only lacking part is the mids. But then again, the speakers are tiny, so you can't really blame them.

Overall, they earn an A+

I really don't need 4.1 (my rear speakers are now under my desk), and my mobo, Abit NF7s, doesn't have digital out. They do sound good though, so maybe I should stick with them. THanks for the reality check.

I bought these speakers yesterday and here're my initial impressions:

1) The subwoofer seems to overpower the satellites.

My old speakers were Altec Lansings ADA880's which were known to be a bass heavy speaker set, however the T2900 seem to have an even boomier subwoofer which may be good for action movies but not so good for listening to music. Perhaps playing with the subwoofer position may help, but I really doubt it. I should also mention the bass control can really help but needs to be adjusted depending on what type of music you're listening to or which games you're playing.

2) The satellites are fairly accurate to my ears.

At least compared to my old ADA880's.

All things considered, the T2900's definately aren't a bad buy for $30.

If you turn of bass and just turn on volume the sound is crisp and clear, but only when bass is off.
Im just surprised at how powerful the sub was. You dont even need to turn it half way to get the powerful thump. Its quite nice, when you want to wake up your brothers in the other room. =)

That sounds like it has similar characteristics to my Creative Labs PCWorks 2.1 system (the original one, with the smaller "cube" satellites).

Do you think that this newer 2900 model would be an improvement? I find that the tiny cubes don't seem to reproduce mids that well at all, and the sub doesn't seem to implement a proper crossover, as I can hear some bass freqs struggling to make themselves heard through the satellite cubes as well, which I would think would muddle the sound slightly, I dunno. The sub is definitely excellent though, put it in the corner of a room against a wall, or in the bottom corner of a bookshelf, and you can shake the entire building if you crank it up too high.

Got in on the deal.

Picked up two sets. Had an old set of 2.1 Altec's that have recently gone all base. There's no Bass or Tone Adjustment on them yet you can't really hear anything other then the base.

The second set I picked up for the Father's Day thing. Replaced an OLD OLD set of Altec's that came with our first "MultiMedia Kit" back @ 1992 ... They run off of C-Cells.

I'm happy with both sets. A good looking decent sounding speaker set for a fair price.
