but then your still locked into using a specific type of creative sound card with a specific type of speakers.Originally posted by: MogyBear
They have the "piece of crap proprietary creative plug," but you can get a receiver for about $100 that accepts SPDIF connections and connects to these speakers flawlessly.
you can't even use creative speakers with a creative intregrated sound on a motherboard because apparently creative doesn't even use a universal connection setup across their own product line.
it really sucks having your sound influence your future computer upgrades because creative won't even be universal with their own products lines. :disgust:
Crap I already bought these, and I think they will be arriving today.
will these speakers work with this system? Or will I have to buy a new soundcard??

They will work with almost any sound card that has 5.1 sound. They just work "better" with the Creative Audigy. They worked with my Dell onboard 5.1 sound card. Too bad about the hissing otherwise they would be great speakers.

For those that are having "hissing" sounds with analog sound cards, try muting your sound card's INPUTS in the audio mixer: Line In, Aux, Mic.
They had the hissing sound even when they were not plugged into the onboard soundcard.
