Creative MP3 Players Clearance @ BB - YMMV

Someone donated some computers to me, so I am going to give and resell them to make up for the extra cost.

Anyway, I went to return/rebuy this (so I could get the extended warranty) and they had another one in a cart. I asked the girl if anything was wrong with it (for eBay) and she said that they are not allow to resell them if they are returned. So I asked if they would sell it at a cheaper price or anything and she said that they couldnt. Why would this be? BestBuy refusing to sell merchandise... sounds odd. The girl was real nice so she wasnt rude or anything.

She's lying or clueless then. Open box items are returned items that are "tested", at least at the BB I worked at for a few days.

It was way too big. It couldnt even fit in the palm of my hand much less my pocket or anywhere else.
It was too flimsy feeling, it felt like it would break if I dropped it from 6" + the lid kept popping off.
The scroll thing SUCKED (wouldnt work right, it would always catch on something when I tried to push it in.)
I absolutely hate not being able to put my music in my own directories.
Plus it is a little to expensive for something that just plays music. Atleast ipods have a date management, games, etc this didnt have crap.
It took it over 3 hours to transfer not even HALF of my music. Which is way less than half of the hard drive.
The software blowed as well. ( I tried Red Chair as well, it sucks too, it doesnt do anything that the creative software cant do.)

I picked up mine yesterday and love it. Sound quality is great. It is a little big but not really an issue for me. I have had no problems with the mediasouce software that came with it and my audigy. transfers when my usb 2.0(pc problem not jukebox) has been working properly have been lighting fast and even when not have only taken maybe 10-15 seconds per song (all are 320kbs). Overall I am very happy with it other than I cant find a decent case with a window and the face comes off too easy. Might have to bust out the exacto knife to my case

Not all items can be remarked and returned to the floor. I work in the inventory at BB and each item is different, it mostly varies by manufacturer. We can't even some things if they are returned and look just fine, we have to box it up and send it back.

Zen Xtra's are pretty nice and that is a deal if you can find one still in stock at a Best Buy. They sound better, have more space and a better battery than an iPod. I also like them better for a Window's system over the iPod - although if you use iTunes anything but an iPod is a pain with their AAC junk.

The iPods however, are a hair smaller and about half as thick. They are also more sturdy feeling and have better feeling controls.

I personally own the 256mb MuVo NX because I can use it as a usb memory stick with no software needed. It holds enough music for my workouts and because it is flash it won't skip ever. Creative will soon be updating this line to support usb 2.0 and 512mb.

Creative is also coming out with an updated MuVo 2 which is very small and uses the new Hitatchi 4GB drive. They are advertising it on their site for a special $199 price right now but is not in stock. These drives do not require any s/w and act as a usb drive in Windows. Also, some people are claiming they have these players already and when opened the drives are installed with no soldering...which means you can pull it out and have a 4GB CF Type II compatible microdrive for half price...although don't quote me on that one.

Ok...I agree the iPod is better than the Zen..but WHO TF even uses that date management crap in their ipod. Haha.

Umm... how about all of the above plus a camera. You have several options already:
