sent this in to their tech support. Anyone experiencing similar problems/know how to fix it?

Problem Description:

After trying to load my files onto the Jukebox Zen, I
suddenly got a message saying the nomad is not responding or
is busy, and only about 500 of the 3,500 files had been
transferred. So I reboot the PC, delete what had been
transferred, and do it again. Now I see it transferring
quite a bit, as it went all the way up to the "T" files
(alphabetical order. I stopped watching the progress after
that. When I came back, I assumed it was done. But in
Playcenter, it only showed some 1,500 files had been
transferred. I double checked the Zen, and only the files up
to "L" had been transferred. Then when I tried to delete the
playlist again from Playcenter, it said the Zen was not
responding or busy. When I tried to delete it from within
the hardware, a box popped up, simly saying "Error". So I
pressed the reset button, and it re-built the library. Then
when I tried to access the playlist, it said "Error" again.
I pressed reset again, but this time it kept freezing at
the "Re-Building Library" stage. It keeps freezing towards
the end, right below the "..." text. I have let it sit for a
while, it still did not work. I tried to do it while it was
plugged into the DC adapter, but it still would not work. It
simply gets frozen at the screen, and I can't even turn it
off. Only the reset button works, but that just starts to re-
build the library, until it gets frozen again. My computer
doesn't detect it when pluged into my Firewire or USB port.

Error Messages Received:

first it said "Error" when I tried to access the playlist.
Now it just gets frozen everytime at a particular point in
the "Re-building Library..." stage.

Troubleshooting Steps Performed Thus Far:

I've tried resetting it several times, I've tried letting it
Re-build the library while plugged in, and this still did
not fix the problem. I've let it sit for a while but
resetting it then still does not work. I've also posted
about the problem on a few message boards but have not found
any similar problems or solutions.

there are times in life when one realizes that they should have spent the extra $100 on an iPod. this is one of those times.

iPod is great. Bad experiences with Creative in the past, sorry to hear they are still making shoddy hardware.

right, so - one bad unit and probelms = shoddy hardware huh?

that is great logic, although false.

in fact you want to talk about return rates - at best buy we get more ipods back than creative mp3 players. but any conclusion based on that would just be conjecture....

btw: for the same storage the ipod is $250 more for me.... not a good deal.

anyway, i'm a happy creative nomad zen owner. I hope you figure out what wrong. have you tried the new firmware?

Who said anything about one bad unit? I've been building systems for a long time and Creative stuff is always bad. Plus, their technical support is a joke. I won't ever forget how long it took them to release stable drivers for Win2k on their SB Live, even though they promised supporting the OS very early on.

Yea, and I wonder how many of them were purchased by PC folks trying to use the Mac version or vice vera.
