That thing that might be worthy of note is that this might be the HP OEM version, not just simply a bulk packaged regular X-FI.

If the picture is correct, there appears to be no pins to attach the 5.25 drive expansion. Shouldn't be a factor for most, but just FYI.

It says "OEM for HP" right at the bottom of the page. What does this mean? Will it still work like normal or is there custom drivers or what? Great deal but if it is incompatible I want to know before I get it.

Google Creative SB0670 and you will find plenty of chat about this OEM card. There are some differences, and drivers MAY be a bit of a challenge to get right. Still, a good price if you don't mind a POSSIBLE driver challenge

Also, search the Cretive forums for SB0670, and you will see many posts in there too.

Absolutely true. I have a hell of a time with drivers for this card. This is one a very few sound cards I ever had trouble with drivers!!!

I already have the Xtrememusic card that I love, but I'm thinking this would be neat to play with the mods that Bad Dude linked too. Need a steady hand to solder stuff that small.
I wonder if the guys in that thread successfully modded this OEM card and what differences they came up with compared to the xtrememusic card.

I wonder if the software on the retail CD that comes with the Xtrememusic would allow this card to display the advanced options and EQ?

I tried once to use retail software/drivers on a Dell OEM X-Fi, and it would not install.

I DO NOT recommend getting this card. I bought same model from FleaBay and, while it worked, none of the Creative software worked for it so audio properties could not be manipulated. It's deceitful that these are being sold.

Maybe buried in one of those mod threads is an easy fix to make the software work with it. I wonder what software HP provided in their PCs to go with the card.

One thing in particular I would be worried about is not being able to install and run the Creative Console. I have an OEM version of the XtremeMusic, but it's the stock one (non-Dell, non-HP). From using the Creative Console, there are various features in there that are pretty critical, others that are very useful. Because of the way the Flexijack port works and is configured, I'm not sure if you'd be able to get a mic to work with the card without the Console.

This may be the answer in this thread to get the software and flexijack with microphone to work. I don't understand all of what they are talking about.

GO HERE

EDIT.,.OK maybe not the flexijack. I could have sworn I read a thread somewhere where they got it to work.Hmmmm

Here is a web page where the guys say, " most of X-Fi OEM cards have full functionality of official Creative X-Fi Xtrememusic but they are "limited" by BIOS. It works with all features available via both softmod and hardmod."

There is a driver link to upload their custom drivers too. Use at your own risk
and I'm not sure of the language they use on the interface either.

I got an OEM version of the same soundcard (model number SB0460). Looks exactly the same as this card.

It took me a while to get the drivers working properly, but once I did, I rarely have to deal with them. I followed the instructions given by Shaq in this thread.
