Creative Speaker problems!

I have a set of Creative Inspire 5300 speakers. I've been experiencing problems with the center channel speaker. It seems that everytime a game or movie requires center channel voicing or effects, the volume output is intolerably low. All the other speakers are blasting while the center one is merely whimpering.

I tried adjusting the volume of the center speaker with the software that came with my Soundblaster Audigy OEM, but nothing seems to work.

Does anyone have these speakers that could help me? thanks in advance.

Does that occur in only the games or even in just mp3's? If it occurs in both the center speaker just might be dead. I'm not much help but i might as well give a suggestion.

well, i know for sure the center speaker isn't dead, since i can swap around the speakers and they all work fine. it's just that the center speaker has a very low output volume. this only happens when i'm playing games or DVDs with 5.1 support.

Try changing your speaker setup from 5.1 to 2 speaker or Headphones and see if the volume evens out on the center channel. If you're running XP, make sure to do it in the Multimedia Control Panel applet as well. If the center channel volume evens out then it's a driver issue. I've never had luck with newer Creative drivers and my speaker setup, I always use the original driver that came with the card. Happens with both a Live card and an Audigy in seperate systems.

evening it out to 2 speakers doesn't appear to help

i tried reverting to old drivers but that doesn't appear to work.

it kinda sucks cause i bought these speakers hoping for good 5.1 support, and a center channel that would work. if i knew the center channel was uselss, i should have just gone for a 4.1 system and saved myself 40 bucks. ugh...

Try a different lead(the one from soundcard centre/sub to the centre/sub on the 5300) it might be faulty,so swap it with one of the others for testing purposes,all you can do is check in Audio HQ and put the normal normal volume up and the centre speaker volume which is in the speaker icon under the test button you will see "settings" ,if it`s still on max then all you can do is bring the centre speaker forward a little position wise from the other front speakers.

Also in Control Panel (WinXP one)you can check in "Sound & audio devices" then the "advanced" button at very bottom go in there make sure you`ve it set as 5.1 surround.

That`s all I can think of,it`s possible your 5300 could be faulty on the centre speaker output.
