Wow I was thinking of getting that board for PCI-E graphics. I don't know now, seeing as I have a X-Fi Plat. Let us know how the RMA goes.

I've been in contact with another person who has the NF4X and the X-Fi. He RMAd his card and received it back yesterday. It now works without any problems so the RMA is a surefire way to address this issue. The RMA process took only a few days in his case when Creative said it could take a few weeks. I'm hoping my RMA goes quickly too.

So what do they do, how does this fix the issue?

They update the firmware on the X-Fi. The firmware is not accessible by end-users so you have to RMA the card.

Mine is there being doctored as well. In all fairness the Creative, they did make the RMA process easy, emailing me a link to print out my own UPS label - they paid.

Now, if I have a really quick turn around time, and thing works, I will be happy. Oh, it also better kick major sound-card butt.

Queer, it looks like the optical add-on plugs in externally to the FlexiJack so you lose the other functions? I was kinda excited for a second that it might be an EZ alternative to a DIY SPDIF out so that Mic-in could be used simultaneously for VOIP. The default bracket and FJ are just plain ill-conceived from a user perspective and just all about selling accessories (or indeed higher margin packages).

I just posted this at the Creative website. After weeks now, uninformed buyers are still purchasing this card and having conflicts with their nForce 4 boards (and others, to boot) I still think that it is really crappy how Creative has (not) handled this problem. Shame on them.

Creative has commented and acted in all ways so far that this is just a simple problem that can be remedied by OTHERS.

*Motherboard manufactures issuing a BIOS fix
*Consumers returning the card to Creative for a firmware fix

My point all this time has been that Creative and their distrbutors have done NOTHING to warn potential buyers that there is a conflict with their product and nVidia nForce chipset owners. It should not be the consumers duty to remedy Creative's problem.

If this was a seatbelt, or child crib issue, the media would be all over it, and Creatives' collective butt would be in seriously hot water.

Got my card back!

It works fine; no problems with install or functioning in music or games. It does sound better than my M-audio 5.1 Revolution, but only marginally so. All in all, however, looks and sounds like a good product.

NOW...

Huge problems with snap/pops on my system.

Reading up on the Creative forums I get the impression this card wont run on any high speed SCSI system?

Anyone here run U160 or U320 and got this card working?

Ive contacted Creative tech support and was told that using both nf4 and scsi would make it hard to work. Was sent a list of things to check but I can guess the outcome of that. Hopefully a firmware upgrade could fix it.

As ive written on other forums, I doubt Creative even tested this card on a SCSI system.....

So the ASUS A8N32 SLI good to go with the x-fi series ?
I would just get the cheaper one but before i even get it
I want to be sure that I won't have the issues I have read
about here!

So far my PC is a good build. Not one hardware crash yet after a month so I
guess I did put the parts in right, lol

I just want to keep it that way
The SB live card I threw in for temp usage sucks arse compared to the onboard audio I
had on my old PC. It was a ASUS A7N8X and it's onboard was fine
for me. Then I got the new ASUS and it's audio is all that's lacking

So, now what card to get. Audigy 2 or this X-FI
I am stuck deciding!

Then i want some nice 5.1 speakers. I have 2.1 monsoons but i am finally ready for a true surround sound system

I own a Platinum edition and a z-5500 sound system...i also own a digital coaxial cable. that is of very high quality.
Something tells me(perhaps my ears), that when using analog connection, all the qualities of the x-fi audio processor come through, weaknesses of recordings are audible, although the noises from the computer "stick to the sound" before coming out, to be dispersed in my room...whilst with coaxial connection the data is only converted to sound in the Soundtouch(z-5500), therefore precluding the chance of collecting noise...so what i'm saying is, with analog connection the sound is true, real, but bears the "burden" of the computer.Coaxial connection is of course also good, as few to nothing noise is there...but it seems to me, that instruments, voices sound better...only setback is what i've already written down..it's not significant, the so called noise, of course...but i'd like to know your opinions.

Thanks in advance
