Creative X-Fi Cards Announced

Well getting back to the topic a bit,

The Creative X-Fi chip is supposed to be utterly bad ass, from thg to ign (where's anand?) they have said that its the biggest change in sound processing in a long time. The coooool thing that im interested in is the upconversion of mp3's to much richer sound, and even the upconversion of 16bit cd quality to even higher quality! The chip is also reportedly able to simulate like 200 somethin speakers with a 5.1.


I recently just bought the Z-5500 Logitech speakers from Dell Home for 225 after taxes (check fatwallet.com for how to get in on the deal and practically a free printer)

So, I have heard that the Z-5500's don't like Audigy cards to do the sound processing, and it uses its own hardware to do cmss and stuff. Do you think when this X-Fi chip comes out (and I have this feeling despite you skeptics that its going to be f'n the shizoo) that you will be able to use the cmss with the Logitech Speakers?

Are you talking about hooking up the 5500s digitally? In that case, yeah, they will do the processing of sound rather than the soundcard.
If you hook them up in analog, the Audigy cards will work like on any other set of analog speakers.
