Creative X-Fi makes system go nuts

I just picked up a Creative X-fi sound card today to put into my brand new X2 rig, and right away, when I put it in the comp and boot up, the computer just reboots itself right after it gets to the Windows XP logo ad infinitum.

Also of note, with the Xfi plugged in, the computer detects that a ton of things named "Unknown PCI device" are occupying IRQ 29.

Any ideas why it would be doing this?

Remove the card then remove all sound drivers etc. You may even want to enable/put in your old one and make sure you remove those drivers as well.

Then put the card back in and power up.

There was never a sound card in the system prior to this, it's a fresh build/format.

Ok I went and exchanged the card for a new one to make sure it wasn't defective, and the same thing happens. I turned off reboot on system error, and now I get a blue screen that says:

The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please consult your system vendor or visit http://www.hardware-update.com for an updated BIOS.

STOP: 0x000000A5

Any idea what to do? My motherboard is a brand new nForce4 SLI, I highly doubt it isn't ACPI compliant.

Tried updating your BIOS like it says?

According to the manufacturer, the BIOS that ships with it is the newest available.

Mayve ACPI isn't enabled by default. Go into your BIOS and make sure that it is.

ACPI is enabled in the BIOS, although there are different levels of it that you can set. Is there a certain one it should be? Like theres ACPI (3) and ACPI (1) or something like that.

Did you try to find the issue on the stuff I mentioned?

EDIT: I didn't read this thread (have to go to work), but I found this one, maybe problem is resolved in it... or at least it can give you some more things to try?

I've been posting to that thread, but no one has any viable solutions. I don't want to flash my mobo with Jetway BIOS because I think that would mess something up, its an EVGA motherboard and they say it is different than a stock Jetway board.

Is ACPI the power saving scheme? There's another one called APCI or something like that and that gives the PC more IRQ channels. I always get the two confused, though. See if you can find the other one and see if that's enabled. I don't know if the ACPI has to be any specific level.

Are you the one who posted this on the Creative forums? I answered there also, but I think I confused ACPI and APCI there.

Yeah I'm the one who's posted there too. So far no solution, although I guess Creative is supposed to call back today.
