Creative audio players rock! However it's less than 2 weeks into this month's credit card statement and I'm nearing the $750 mark. So it looks like I'll have to pass one this unfortunately.

So is this thing compatible with most video formats? Does it require special formatting like with the ipod video to get Divx movies and such to play? And do videos have to be encoded in 320x240 resolution or will the player automatically scale the video up or down? And how is the screen on this thing compared to the ipod video? I've been considering the ipod video but was turned off because of all the trouble it takes to get your own divx movies on it. It does have a very nice screen though so I was wondering how the creative players screen compares.

The screen is much better then the Ipod. (260,000 colors) Longer Video and Music battery life. (Video is 4 hours vs 2.x for the Ipod) Built in FM (Ipod is outside addon acc.) 5 vid formats vs 2. And works with all the varoius Play for Sure Music sites. Even has an impressive amount of accessories already for something that is not an Ipod.

Only down side is slightly thicker (bigger battery) and of course less accesories. If you already have a lot invested in Ipod stuff then you proabably better to stick with them. If not, the Vision M is overall a better player by a decent margin.

And despite what Crutchfield says, it's really a $50 savings....Creative wised up and lowered the MSRP from $329 to $299 to match the Ipod.

15 mins after I placed the order I get a call from them (Crutchfield)
They just wanted to confirm but they also wanted to tell me that they would email me as soon as they have an ETA from Creative Labs on any new stock. Its anyones guess at this point. AFAIK they shouldn't "charge" your card until shipped. ofc you'd have to read the fine print to be sure.

yeah, with 30gb storage, you would think they would ease your pain of transcoding... it sure can be a tedious process.
