There are no hidden fees with Amex Blue right? Because if I got one, I'm not sure how often I'd use it, probably just for my online purchases, but I wouldn't want to get one if there were hidden fees involved.

Where can I get more info on the price-protection of Click Citi? I can't find anything like that in my cardholder agreement :Q

rtool,
The price-protection is not in the citi agreement, it should be another one that has all the info. One thing I hated about ClickCiti is that the Price protection takes a very long time, because it's through regular mail and it take a very long time for them to process the price protection. Not like AMex Blue, just fax it in and received the check two weeks later. For click it is like a month or more I think. Dont remember how long.

One more thing, anyone have the link or any information about Citi not renewing the College Student card for ClickCiti? If so, that would be suck. thanks

YaKuZa,

There is no hidden fees for the Amex blue card. no annual fee. I use the blue card only for its pricematch feature(best value guarantee). I use other cards, reward card for everyday shopping.

the amex blue card's best value guarantee program has been tried by so many and proven to be the best.

I wouldn't say Amex's PM is the best. Click Citi is better, $1000 per item, and better terms, only drawback is you have to send claim through mail, no fax.

that being said, Amex Blue is perhaps the best PM card available now, click citi is not accepting new applications.

Anyone know what Beacon score you need to qualify for Amex Blue? How about the minimum score needed for a VISA card? I've never owned a CC, but I bought a house over a yr ago when my score was 650 (FHA loan).

Thanks,

If you receive spam checks from your credit cards, call the number on the card and ask them to stop sending you checks by mail, cause you believe it is not safe- they can be interecepted and used for fraud. When they hear "fraud" they stop sending them right away...

by the way, if you apply for the Amex Blue, Juniper, FirstUsa SmartVisa through Ebates.com, you get $15 for each card.

<< Discover Platinum card holders,

I just got a noticed in the mail telling me that they're increasing ARP % rate to 18.99% for purchases from 14.99%
and 20.99% for CASH advance from 19.99%.
And this will go into effect in Feb/March billing cycle. I was wondering if anyone else got this notice.

I thought they only increase these % rates if I defaulted on one or two billing cycle. And the thing is I never was behind on payments. Always paid on time.

I will call them to ask to see what's going on.
>>

Have you been late on any other cards? Many credit card companies will now check your credit report periodically and if they find that you are late on any card, they jack up your interest rates!

I just got an application for a CHASE PLATINUM MASTERCARD with a 0% APR for 12 months for balance transfers and no annual fee. This is the best deal I have seen in a long time. The App doesn't have a website or phone number but you can go HERE to see the card. Their website says 2.99% intro APR but you might be able to call them to get the 0%.

Any body have any information or link to the Price Protection feature of ClickCity card? I can't find any info on it on the web and when I ask the CS, they're as clueless as I am. Any help is appreciated. How does it work? When I joined this card, I remember reading something about this program, but since I can't find any info on it, I'm lost. Thanks guys!

Had a quick question, and it might be pretty lame, but, i dont have any credit or VERY LITTLE as i am still in school, but its not a college its networking academy and thus i dont think i cannot apply for the Amex Student Blue card. I dont have any bad credit but i have found that applying for the few cards i have applied to so far that since i dont have much of any credit i cannot get accepted. Anyone know of a card that may help me in my situation?
Thanks

Have your parents cosign for a card if you can't get one on your own. Then, build up credit by making one small purchase each month and paying it all off. It'll give you good credit.

Get a credit card from a department store if you can. I believe they are still easier to get than MC/Visa because they can more easily control what you're spending. Use it responsibly (don't overcharge, pay in full and promptly) and hopefully you will be able to get something better before too long.

Gas company cards used to be good too, but they're mainly MC/Visa these days so probably don't apply.

*laugh* I like the "LensCard ? Chase Platinum gives you the option to have a magnifying lens built right into your card".

You can use it to read the fine print you should have gone over *before* you got the card.

Actually, the Chase Stockback card is kind of interesting - it pays a 1% bonus into a mutual fund, and 10% on the infamous "selected merchants." Too bad Chase has something like a 24-day cycle. It really sucks having to make an extra payment every couple months if you carry balances. Really FUBARs a monthly budget.

24 day cycle? I have never heard of that. You mean each month it closes roughly a week earlier than the last? I know that many banks require payment to be received within 20 days of the bill closing day (as opposed to 25 that always used to be standard), but the bill still closes the same time each month.

I have a Toys R Us Visa from Chase and I am fairly sure it still on a monthly statement basis.

I would like to post that I have a Shell Chase Mastercard. This thing gives you 1% back for your gas and when you use it at a Shell Gas station you get 5% back good towards gas. This is a pretty good deal I think.

I've had a Citibank Visa since 87, and because I've been such a good customer, they've only given me a $17K credit. They used to have the Price Guarantee and it was limited to $1K like BLUE. Now that they've switched to Mastercard, I don't even use the card. I've got a low 4.99% on a balance til it's paid off. I guess I should check out the Price Guarantee if they have it on mine. I've got an MBNA Quantum card (higher than Platinum ) which I use mainly for the travel benefits and conciege services.

Unity, I would suggest reading this thread.

Apply for a secured credit card with your local bank, you're virtually GUARANTEED approval and it's the easiest/safest/surest way of building your credit.

I have a question for anyone who knows it. I am still a student, so im new with cards. I currently have a charge for 70bucks....It was for a trial of something. I got it thinking it would be usefull, but not worth the money so I would cancel before the 30days eneded. Which I did, and the charge is still on the card. I paid for it. I canceled it about 2 months ago and keep calling the company to see what is up and they just say it was my account was canceled. Well, the charge still has not been refunded on the card yet.

I did not speak to the CC company yet, because I do not know if I report it(and ask them to remove it) and let them know what happen.....will it show up on my credit history and give me a lower scrore? The card is a visa via capital one bank. Id rather pay the 70bucks if it will hurt my history cuz I wanna get a big fat plat card someday!!! >

anyways I have the following cards....
visa
amax blue standard
exxon(exxon in my area always is the lowest price on gas, so it works out super) mastercard with 3%back on gas........and 1%back on any other purchases.....the rebates are used the following month which is really great....I use this card the most.
then discover standard with 1% back......

I have never been late, have had a credit history for about a year now, and still canit get any plat cards

for small purchases I use a card without rebates on it so the card shows some life and its reported in my history.

You are all wrong!
The best card I ever came across was the Associates Nat'l Bank VISA:
http://www.studentcreditcard.com/
It looks like it is currently a student card, but I don't know if you are actually *required* to be a student. Anyway, just go sign up for a $200 class if you want.
It pays 3% rebate on ALL purchases. The catch: You must carry a balance that month. What I would do is always round down when I paid my bill. Ex: My bill was $247.53 so I would pay the $247. That seemed to work, although I must admit; it was kind of hit or miss.. they certainly have an *ODD* interest calculator. Some bills it would be 8 cents, other times 8 dollars. Then you turn over the bill and see how complicated computing the interest is!

Nevertheless its still a GREAT deal and they put the credits directly on your bill when you get $25 or so, which is perfect.. no checks to cash, no points to spend, just money in your pocket! I must say.. no matter what the reward, chances are you are MUCH better with CASH REBATES!! Example: You may get 3% off of Shell gas, but every time I see Shell, they are MORE than 3 cents higher than the competition.. so just save your money and buy someone else's dead dinosaurs.. Same for airlines.. I love Southwest, but if you spend $16,000 for a ticket.. well if you just had 3% cash rebate that would give you $480 which is enough to fly *INTERNATIONALLY* on the expensive carriers.. or to buy 3 tickets or so on Southwest themselves.. So just keep this in mind.

Oh and a FINAL warning about this 3% rebate card. They cancel your rebate every 16 months or so.. This really p*sses me off, cuz its just after I memorize the new number, and I have to cancel it and get a new card. Very stupid, as it wastes us all effort and money. There is no way to get around this. There is no warning of it, just one month you see no "rebate credit"
