What is Farm Bureau Bank Visa Card ?

I just got approved for the Fleet card, up to 2% back... listed on top 10 list on Gomez. I'll probably start using that...

Does anyone here have an Alaska Airlines Platinum credit card?

Man. I am desperately looking for a Credit card that will give CASH REWARDS on Convinience Checks. Paying my mortgage each month will give me a huge reward.. Anybody know CC that will do this??

I called AMEX, JUNIPER AND DISCOVER. none of them do.

This is a long shot but here's a more direct route. Call your mortgage company and ask if they accept cc as mortgage payment or can they charge your cc monthly on an automated basis? I have been able to use my cc to make car payments, phone payments, cell phone payments, etc. It's worth a try.

PeterPan76 - Don't credit card companies usually charge a cash advance fee on convenience checks? Therefore, even if you found a card that gave out rewards for convenience check transactions, you would still be paying more than the amount of your bills after the rewards.

My Citibank Platinum and AT&T Platinum, both are giving me 5.9% balance rate good for lifetime. I really owe them a lot cuz' I don't think anyone would give me 5.9% APR loan good for lifetime... I don't know why they are doing it but it really saved my ass.

Worst credit card I ever had was Associates national bank card. They gave me a lot of hassle. First of all, they give out your telephone # to tonnes of tele marketing mofo's... I used to get atleast 5 calls everyday affiliated with Associates, then here's the worst part, even if you say no to those offers, they thoughtfully charge your card even if you didn't autohrize it. That's not all, if you call associates they give you a lot of trouble processing refunds or disputes. Credit card companies make a lot of money from late payments, balance transfer's and their insane purchase rates... when they are making so much money, the least a customer can expect is quality service. If they can't offer that, just break your card into half and go for brand name companies like discover, citibank, juniper...

Don't get Associates

I was looking for a 0% APR card to use in conjunction with the c2it service, and after looking around saw the best deals were on citibank itself Citibank Cards Link. This may represent the best card to use for c2it without treating it as a cash advance. However, the 0% APR is valid only for balance transfers and not new purchases or this would have been really hot with c2it

I guess I will have to use the free balance transfer option with AMEX Blue and then after consolidating everything transfer it to one of these 0% APR cards and pay the $50 balance transfer fee and enjoy the free interest for 9 months.... Any one have better propositions?

Also, the Illumina card is supposed to offer the price protection like AMEX but it doesn't support online purchases or matches - 2 bad

I have never heard of a bank that will let you pay your mortgage by credit card. They want to make sure you're paying with real cash and not moving your debt somewhere else.

RossMAN - are you saying you pay a car loan with your credit card, or you paid for a part of your car with it?

Is not moving debt. I was reading an article in fools.com about paying "everything" with your credit cards when you "DO" have the cash to pay for it. For example I have a 0 balance on my CCs and I always pay my bills with my checking account, which doesn't give me anything back.

If you think about paying "all" your bills during the course of a year with a CC with "CASH REWARDS" you could get 400+ dollars back at the end of the year.

And 400 BUCKS is BETTER THAN NOTHING AT ALL. GOT IT? the problem is finding places where you could charge your... ie.. mortgage, student loans, car payments. etc, etc. if you spend more than 20000 in all your bills that's a lot of cash rewards!!!!

And I figure that's the best way to pay your bills. With your credit card.

jbloggs or anyone else: do you know of any other deals for signing up for AMEX? The link you provided for the Amazon $10 doesn't work.

Thanks

It's paying one debt with another. You cannot pay a loan with another loan unless it's something like a home equity loan.

Thus you can't pay your mortgage with a credit card, and I strongly doubt you can pay a car loan with it, either.

Bill,

Believe it or not, you can BUY A CAR WITH A CREDIT CARD!

My brother bought his Nissan MiniVan using his credit card, the card he used is the Juniper Cash Rebate card, he charged $15000 on that card, and the rest on another reward credit card. The juniper cash rebate card is the best cash rebate card out there.

Just take a look the rebate rule

0.25% .....on the first $1 of purchases
0.50% .....from $1,000 and up
1.00% .....from $2000 and up
2.00% .....from $10000 and up

there is no annual fee, and it's a mastercard so is accepted just about everywhere.

if you are buying a new car or used car from car dealers, make sure you ask them if they accept credit card. Before my brother bought his Nissan, he also bought a Chevy using his credit card. If the dealer accepts paying with a credit card, you can earn some serious cash rebate!

If you can spend $24,000 in a year, you earn $368 cash rebate,
spend $30,625 a year = $500 cash rebate!!

also try to get your credit limit as high as possible, just call the csr to request a credit line increase.

Yes, I have heard stories of this. However, I have also had dealers say no when asked to charge the whole car because they are unwilling to part with 2% of the price, especially when you've gotten a particularly good deal on the car. I bought a car this past summer, I got them to take the 10% deposit on my AMEX Costco card, but not the whole car since I paid invoice (I didn't have enough credit on that card but I could have split it between 2 and made it). I have also heard stories that people threaten the dealership and say they will tell the credit card company that said dealer refused the card, and that causes them to take it. I don't know if I believe that since in reality the credit card companies rarely go after their merchants.

Anyway, the good thing for me was I was in the middle of a special 2% extra cash back promotion on my AMEX Costco card when I bought the car, so the $1500 I put on it resulted in $30 cash. Of course, had I been able to charge the whole car (sorry to say it was only a Hyundai, but the cool Elantra GT model), I could have gotten a whopping $300 rebate, and that is in addition to the sliding Costco rebate on the card. Those were a great 2 months when I had that promotion in effect!

BillRubin - Car loan payment. It depends on who finances your car loan, most will not accept cc payments but some will.

Also you CAN buy a car with a cc and earn the rewards but it's not always that easy. What I would do is ask the dealership if they will accept a cc as payment, if they say yes, buy the car charge everything possible, the next day go to your bank/credit union and apply for a car loan. They'll cut you a check for the amount of the car loan, deposit that check into your checking account, immediately mail a cc payment to avoid any interest charges. Your bank/credit union will be a lien holder on your car title.

It's been a while since I've had a car loan, but don't banks want the check made payable to the auto dealership to make sure you're using it for a car? And don't they also insist that their name be put on your car title as a leinholder in case you decide to sell said car without telling the bank?

Amex Blue for students is easy to get. I've only had my credit cards for a year, and got an Amex blue students account with a $2000 credit line with no problem, in about 2 weeks.
