Get extra money off by shopping at 'Last Try'... I mean Best Buy.

Remeber at Best Buy you get the price difference plus 10%. Thusly... 169.99 - 79.99 = 90.00 * 10% = 9.00, so the 79.99 deal is now a 70.99 deal. Best Buy is also offering a rebate. $20 on the PNY 256Mb Compact Flash and $15 on the PNY 128Mb Smart Media.

PNY 256Mb CF 169.99 -> Pricematched at Best Buy 70.99 -> 50.99 AR (Rebate)
PNY 128Mb SM 89.99 -> Pricematched at Best Buy 43.79 -> 28.79 AR (Rebate)

Please be nice if I've missed anything, its my first post.

Nice try on the Best Buy angle ...the problem is the CF cards on sale are generic Compusa labeled cards...so BB will not pricematch this...good try though

According to the ad it lists a specific sku number. I printed up that sku number and it states PNY memory. That's the point I brought up at Best Buy and I had no problem getting the discount.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm supposed to get a Maestro today and this will be a great combination.

I went in with the printed ad and those idiots still gave me an attitude, ugh I hate compusa.

Went to CompUSA and saw the 256mb CF Card was labeled $129.. Took it up to the register and rang up at that price too.. so I showed the cashier the ad (like it said to do) and she wasn't sure it was legit... so she called over the manager, and the manager took the ad to his computer to look it up online to see if it was indeed real... after about 4 minutes he came back and told the cashier to go ahead and let me have it for $79... the receipt showed it was a PNY... then I got greedy and went to BB bought a PNY card for $169 to try to pricematch since they also have a $20MIR... the BB lady needed to confirm I had gotten the CF card at that price so she called CompUSA... CompUSA said that card rings up at $129 and is not $79... so then I showed BB the CompUSA ad that clearly shows the sku matching the sku on the receipt... but she pointed out that right next to the CF and SmartMedia sale section on the ad it reads in big letters: "20% off" and she said they do not honor any price matching of competitor's discounts and that they can only pricematch the $129 price... after trying some persuasive conversation with her, she called her manager and the manager said the same thing... I'm assuming that others have had more luck with this... nevertheless 256mb for $70 is a pretty good price.. could have been $50 tho... =(

Can someone email me or post the scanned receipt from Best Buy and/or CompUSA?

I'm planning to PM it with Best Buy, since the nearest Compusa is 50 miles away, so if u have a scanned receipt from Best Buy, that will be awesome.

jrybacek, you said "According to the ad it lists a specific sku number. I printed up that sku number and it states PNY memory...." where did u print the sku number off? off Best Buy website or Compusa? if u search it on Compusa it will list it as a Compusa 256MB CompactFlash Card, and I don't think Best Buy will PM it. Can you tell us how you get Best Buy to PM it? I'm gonna go Saturday morning. This will be great for my upcoming Audiovox Maestro PDA.

Read the ad from Compusa, it gives the sku number. I printed out the sku number which shows that it is PNY memory (oem/relabeled or not, it lists as PNY as the manufacturer). I also printed out the in-stock list, that way Best Buy can't claim that Compusa didn't have any. The Best Buy I was at didn't seem to have any problem honoring Compusa's sale price, maybe I just got lucky.

I don't think $50 AR will fly at Best Buy. I think $80 for 256MB CF is PRETTY DARN good. I got in on this deal.

Well I'm suprised everyone doubts this. I've done it once now and I intend to do it again. Rebate is one per household, so that means the second one is only 70 bux. What exactly is wrong with pricematching these two? How is this anything other than a pricematch and a rebate?

Compusa's SKU says PNY, how many types of PNY 256Mb CF are made? After I opened up my box I've got the same model number as warthogah. Best Buy's price is 169 which is completely out of line. I think its amusing that they get stuck with a 9 dollar reduction on a matched price.

Just my 2 cents. =)

Ok.. just looked up BB's Pricematch policy and this is what the pasadena store is using against me "Does not apply to special, bonus or free offers..." ...and since at the top of the CompUSA Ad it says "Print this ad and bring it to your local store for these great specials" they won't pricematch it..

hi

To check the SKU form CompUSA, just do an advanced search on their webiste. The sku will return a PNY manufactered CF card... I'm surprised people got the Lexar one instead..
Can somebody post the PNY part number on the CompUSA CF card and the Best BUY card.
If so, you can get the PNY datasheets for each card, hopefully they'll be the same, and then we're in business as far as identifying whether or not they're excatly the same card for PM purposes.

As far as getting BB to play along...that's another question. Which Best Buy works best?

SF.

Looks like a great deal to me! I just went in and got the 256mb one for $79.99--no rebate hassles or anything. Thanks!

i can answer that.
the ones outside my area...
anyway, not going to post it in the s200/s330 thread, too many peeps asking redundant questions , but sam's club has had the s300 on clearance for a while now. problem is the varying prices--store across town cleared out @ $255.91, but another is holding fast @ $399.91
just posting what i know

Bump for a good deal about to end. I was looking for mass storage for my digi cam for a long trip. This was just the ticket. As far as speed, I use it in a canon s110 and I have noticed that replay (viewing pics taken) is slower with this card than with a 64 MB HiSpeed Kingston I bought 1.5 yrs ago. It's also slower when transfering images from the card through a USB adapter. The shot-to-shot showed no difference, probably b/c of the large buffer in the s110. An awesome deal overall. Someone posted the card is made by Toshiba? This one is PNY, and I can't find the numbers to see if it is Toshiba. Hope this helps someone.

well i got in on the deal, picked up three 256meg PNY CF cards at BB B&M for ~$71 with the price match.

Here's how I did it:

1. First, I bought the memory from CompUSA (duh) for $79.99
2. Then I went to Best Buy and tried to pricematch. They called CompUSA and CompUSA swore the price was $130. I bought a 256 PNY card from Best Buy for ~$170, then head to another Best Buy.
3. Showed the second Best Buy my CompUSA sales receipt and the Best Buy PNY 256megs in the CompUSA bag. They immediately accepted the $79.99 price and gave me the 10% off. Unfortunately they wouldn't give me the mail-in rebate forms, but since they're available online I shouldn't have a problem.
4. Take back the $170 PNY memory you purchased from Best Buy in step 2.

They also printed all the prices on the same reciept, so it looks like I'll only be able to claim $20 mail-in for one of them "Limit one rebate per person, per household, family or address." Oh well, that's still what, about $7 off each one, so $63? I suppose I could haggle with them more and get each card on a new reciept, but that's a lot of hassle, and $63 is still a HOT Deal!

really?? Mine didn't say 20% off anywhere. I'm thinking your cashier at CompUSA screwed up, maybe take it back and ask another sales lady to ring it up.
